I don't want to hear that nonsense, he had a great team in 2007 and 2014 and still came up small

2014
Romo. 15-19 191 yds and 2 tds
Murray 123 and 1 td

It was an efficient day for Romo and the offense. If a single player hurt us the most it was Murray and his fumble. If memory serves it was at a point in the game where we were starting to dominate. The Dez CATCH obviously was huge. To this day the NFL still doesnt have any consistency when calling a catch/drop but I know for a fact that gd ball never hit the ground. I never saw a single replay with it on the ground. At the least there wasnt conclusive evidence to overturn the ruling on the field. Romo didnt have to go for it all on that play but hell it worked until the officials screwed us. The defense was far from great in 2014 but the offense was fantastic.

I dont understand why Cowboy fans need to place blame on a qb who has carried a team that for most of his career had no running game or defense to speak of. Romo kept us relevant the last decade. He has at times made me curse him but the truth is he made up for alot of deficiencies. Morons will call him a choker but ignore him having the highest 4th quarter qb rating in history and ignore him having more 4th quarter comebacks than any other qb.

Dak's the QB of this team and it's going to stay that way unless something fairly dramatic happens.

And Romo's a very good player and has been pretty much his entire career. Anybody who watched the Romo teams and concludes they came up short because of QB play generally simply doesn't know what they're talking about as far as I"m concerned.

That said, we don't have a defensive roster capable of competing at the highest level now, either. If we exceed expectations somehow, it'll be because we're playing better defense than we have any right to expect in the long run. Last week was hopeful, but I'm not holding my breath we'll be able to do it 3-4 games in a row in crunch time.
Well...we played the Vikings and the Giants...both with quick release offenses designed to not get their respective quarterbacks whacked on every other play. That said, it does seem that they have improved since Thanksgiving, when things got a bit ragged in the secondary. We just won't really know what to expect of this defense until it encounters Washington (again), Atlanta or Green Bay in the playoffs...all offensive powerhouses.

All exuses. What did Romo do in that 2012 win or go home game? Choked it away all by himself, that's what.

You can call facts excuses all you want. It doesn't change the fact that Romo has been a franchise QB for this organization and has the numbers to back that up. Romo's 4th quarter stats and comebacks have been epic and have further been discussed here in detail. If we get that out of any future QB, I'd be very happy because it gives us a chance.

Dak Prescott had two interceptions in a loss to the Giants last week. (AP)

Through most of this season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott played like a veteran.

Recently, some of the concerns about Prescott coming out of college and some concerns we see with all rookie quarterbacks have been showing up with more regularity.

What I’ve noticed with Prescott – even before his below-average games against the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants – is that he isn’t seeing things as clearly as he did earlier in the season. He is leaving throws on the field. That has been a slight but noticeable trend, and it continued against the Giants.

Prescott missed a big play against the Giants late in the first half. This might have even been a touchdown. Cole Beasley ran a go route from the slot over the top of the defense but Prescott didn’t process it for some reason. Instead, he threw to Terrance Williams on a dig route on the same side of the field.

Again, he’s not seeing things as clearly as he did earlier in the season. This could have been a game-changing touchdown right before halftime.

The coaching point on that throw to TWill was to look for a WR near the sideline.

Dak threw it back shoulder to TWill which took him back towards the sideline initially but TWill still looped back to the inside and wasted time. They could have run another play if TWIll would have just gotten out of bounds.

The throw to Beasely would have to be absolutely perfect. The tragectory of throwing to a 5'8" WR on a deep pass is not in the favor of the offense. If Beasley slows up at all, the DB it going to knock the pass down.

Romo has def had some bad games in his career. 2014 was definitely not one of them. In what way in hell did Romo do to make the cowboys lose in 14?

Threw that long stupid pass on 4th and 2 instead of getting the first down and keeping the drive alive. It was 4 mins left in the game so why go for the homerun play?

He obviously didn't do enough because they still lost. So those stats mean nothing to me

No, because most rookie QBs don't have to do OJT when they really should have had to sit. Alas, circumstances prevented that from happening. So he's done well, but the struggles, and please at least admit that yes, he and the offense has had struggles, this time of year are concerning.

I expect him to bounce back, tho.

Yep, TWill's lack of understanding the situation bit us again but it is hardly being talked about.

Disagree about the throw to Beasley having to be perfect....he had a clear step and the throw could have been thrown toward the middle of the field making the defender almost HAVE to interfere.

I would say the most important moment from that game was right before halftime, when Romo couldn't handle a snap. This was followed by a false start penalty, which resulted in a long FG try which was missed/blocked...followed by a defensive lapse that allowed Green Bay to march 33 yards in just :29 to score a FG. Instead of 17-7, the score was 14-10...a six point swing, where Dallas ends up losing by five points. It is the same type of thing that cost them in the 2007 divisional game against the Giants, where the defense gave up a touchdown after a 10.5 minute, 15 play drive allowed Dallas to take a 14-7 lead with just :47 seconds left to play in the half. The dynamic duo of Roy Williams and Jacques Reeves were then torched by Steve Smith on two consecutive plays, the last one also resulting in a 15 yard face-mask penalty on Reeves. Williams and Reeves were simply abominable on that drive...eventually giving up the 19 yarder to Boss and the rest was history...14-14 at half.

These defensive letdowns with less than a minute to play before half-time almost certainly affected the final outcome of both these games.

Not to dig too much into this argument...but I don't want to see you EVER trot out a stat in support of Dak...ya know.. since they don't mean anything to you. lol

People like you want to bring up stats to excuse romo from losing but when someone does it for Dak it's a issue

My point is Romo never won a SB or appeared in a NFC championship game so I am sick of hearing about him

Me? I've yet to post a Romo stat in my life.. lol

Hey, when Romo has spit the bit, I'll definitely call him on it.. but I also understand that it's a team game. So I can look at individual play in a vacuum and still understand that team play determines a W-L.

Romo has played well for this team, but circumstance have prevented team success.

Dak has played well for this team, but it doesn't mean he's playing at the same level as he was earlier in the season. And THAT should be discussed, critiqued, and yelled over. W or L.

Cant argue with that, but I do think we were about to blow the doors off of it when Demarco fumbled. Not positive though, its been awhile.

One thing I noticed in that last game, and I think it was a pre-game/ on the field interview with Dak and he said he was a pocket passer, now JJ had come out with that "one for the ages" splurt and in his ongoing splurtage he was splurting on about what romo would bring to the game and not just be a bus driver!,,, now,I'm thinking that splurtted right across Dak's radar screen and he was bound and determined to lay it out in that game of being a pocket passer.
I'm thinking JJ 's splurt kinda stifled the natural command of his playing style (hanging on to the ball to long, to be a pocket passer) pretty much zapping his circuit board, as his natural playing style is to go with what's always worked for him to win ,,,, light a shuck outta that pocket passer kill zone and advance forward,,, but ya,the gnats did bring the pressure in good fashion.
