It's scary how many people want to judge people as guilty with minimal or no evidence.

That Lynch mob or Witch Burning mentality.
It's the highest level of ignorance and nothing good comes of it. I am just glad they were at least forced to put away ropes, pitchforks, and torches. Ignorant people shouldn't have access to anything that may harm humanity.

And you see it more and more every day. It's disturbing, how willing people are to engage in this behavior.
Casting stones from here makes for easy targets.

Hardy was accused of Attempted Murder. Do you think a DA would drop a high profile case for a charge that serious if he had a lot of evidence but an uncooperative witness?

And you said there "certainly" evidence beyond her testimony. I'm still waiting for you to post a link to what that evidence was.
Sure they would have...

And you'll continue to wait, I'm not an employee of the North Carolina court system and do not have access to the court transcripts and the other information the judge used to come to her conclusion, so by all means keep pretending it doesn't exist.

No, you'll just take her side of the argument and believe whatever she had to say and nothing he had to say, despite neither side having any tangible evidence.

And why not? The original judge did the same thing.

Not according to the State of NC. Even if you count the bench trial, which was a misdemeanor, he was only sentenced to probation.

IMO the woman in the case was not a reliable witness. She claimed he flung her all over the apartment but had no visible injuries. Her story changed over time and during the trial and she eventually went away. She was either paid off, which may have been her motive the entire time or knew she was lying and didn't want to go through another trial and a much more thorough cross.

I would have no problem signing Hardy

THANK YOU! people need to understand that these cases arent always what they seem. Do some research on the victim before you just accept her side of the story.
I'm not saying he's innocent, I can't because I wasn't there. I'm not saying he's guilty either, I'm saying the court has spoken and he's a free man and a free agent. Let's sign him up.

The earlier trial being "vacated" just means that he appealed. When you appeal the earlier trial is "vacated." Charges during the appeal were then dropped ONLY because the victim did not report, not because of any "conflicts." Hardys 911 calls and any "inconsistency" the victim had were evaluated by the first judge, who gave a guilty verdict. The prosecutor speculated the victim reached an out of court settlement...sure it hasnt been proven...and witnesses for mob bosses dont testify because the mob boss isnt guilty...RIGHT

You'd make an awful juror.

There are no court transcripts for a bench trial in NC. It is more informal. That is what people are trying to show. Hardy's defense team paid to have their own transcripts made. The prosecutors wanted a copy after the bench trial because her testimony differed from her original statements. The defense finally relented and allowed the prosecutors to see the transcripts. When they couldn't find her they decided to drop all charges even though they could have proceeded without her if they vouched for her original statements. They weren't willing to do that and had no choice but to drop all charges.
Yes, people can't get the concept that if the bench trial was equivalent to a normal trial in other jurisdictions, then it would have have had a formal court reporter and it would have been with a jury instead of a judge because that's the right of all American's.

The bench trial is really just a filter to keep unnecessary cases from going to a full jury trial.
