Though I see your point of view, the comparison between addiction and cancer is ridiculous and I can sum it up in one word...choice. Addicts chose to start on that path, cancer survivors and victims did not make that choice.
I can tell you from experience. Some dont choose to be addicted. Some people cant control it. Its goes much deeper than being able to say NO. You are right, cancer patients dont choose it. Addicts who deal with a lifetime of abuse and find a way to deal with it, good or bad make the choice yes, but are heavily pushed into that choice. Some are born addicts. Ive seen people that were born addicted because mommy couldnt put down the crack pipe or needle, then lived their entire lives watching it and being surrounded by it, you really think that person has a choice? They may, but the odds are not in their favour.

On the same day that Jaylon Smith announces his nerve is regenerating... no doubt Jerry told him to go to the press to offset this bad news. Cant have two back-to-back wasted second round picks.

He deserved to be suspended. Not another year. This kid came into he league with these issues. If you care about the person, you should be sensitive to the fact that isolating him another year from craft and team is not going to help. The idle time will only exacerbate is problem. Goodell is a POS.

He was released by the Giants because of the ****storm created by the non-NFL media in the weeks following the opening of the season. Notice those two chumps Joe Buck and Troy didn't say a peep about Josh Browns suspension for week 1 but couldnt stop lecturing us all about Hardy last year.
Yours is a good point.

Brown didn't have a history like Hardy. But that doesn't make it less inexcusable.

How are these two things remotely related?
You don't follow rules just because they are there. That's a sheep mentality. If all people were sheep, alcohol would still be illegal and cocaine wouldn't be. The Government telling me what I can and cannot ingest into my own body without any reason what so ever is ignorant and sheepish. The Government and the NFL need to stay the hell out of people's bedroom and lives period.

A year of no pay and no work for a well off pothead.

It's obvious he'll be back to smoking pot.

This is the death penalty for his career.

Those who think he'll be back on the field someday, will be severely disappointed.

You cut your loses and move on, he's failed at least 5 drug tests now and he's going to be a year out of football, not allowed around the team complex, he'd rather smoke the weed instead of making millions playing football, Blackmon was never heard from again in Jacksonville and Gordon is on his way out of Football in Cleveland. Gregory is done, time for the organization to move on!

You need to start thinking like a GM. This is not the type of infraction that is going to become a PR nightmare like Ray Rice, and not the type of drug where you automatically assume he's a lost cause, like heroin, crack cocaine, or meth. The team does not have to pay him, he clearly has tremendous potential, etc. etc. There is virtually no reason to release him, except based on emotion like you're doing. And that's not the way to be successful in this league.

Jerry knew this when he said he wasnt 100% sure he'd be available for the play offs.

He got numerous chances, at some point the empathy runs out..
Empathy should never run out, especially when someone has a particular struggle. I swear sometimes I'm like this fanbase doesn't deserve another championship with how yall turn on players. Addiction...mental illness is overlooked way to much. Isn't he supposedly bipolar too?

I pray your kids nor your family ever battle addiction. Id love for you to visit a rehab facility to see how difficult having an addiction is. Would you have told KC to drop Eric Berry when he had cancer? Probably not. Addiction is a disease. You are uneducated and really need a reality check.
Most addicts CHOOSE to start their "disease". Nobody says, "Hey let me try cancer out."

Two of his suspensions were missed tests, not failed test. The NFL treats them the same. The issue at hand is they said he missed a test due to him being in the rehab facility.

If that in fact is the case, I hope the Cowboys take this to court.
A poster earlier mentioned that he checked into rehab in an attempt to avoid being tested. If that is the case, then I don't see where the NFL is in the wrong.

If he was locked in a rehab facility that the NFL put him in.... You do the math.

The league can get a hold of him through his agent and the league makes arrangements to go to him to get the test done if he can't come to them.....even his agent dropped him weeks ago...

No, he checked himself into a private rehab clinic right before his test was scheduled.

20 incidents definitely sounds like a history but I dont want to make this thread about those two former players.

No harm in keeping him I imagine. Just won't waste any of my personal energy believing he'll even do anything for this club.
