Ah ok, didn't know that was a policy. Thanks for the info

Sidenote. You will all be happy to know that I just played the jags on madden and on my first drive zeke carried Ramsey into the end zone on his back. You're welcome

Ramsey fans won't like that....:muttley:

That doesn't sound right. I thought, but could be wrong, that 3rd or 4th failure is 4 games, then the next is 10, and 10 total, not added on. Then the next is a year. Unless all of that has changed.
It may stay at 4 until he is out of rehab, then a meeting with the biased dictator. Then he may get some more games in spite of it all. At least 2 games is my bet, but possibly 6, making it that 10 games.

All speculation on my part, but not any different than any others. LOL.
On sports radio they said the NFL has discretion on the 10 vs 14. There's not a lot of history to go by because most people don't fail again before serving the 1st suspension.

the silence on the Gregory suspension status is deafening, haven't hear a peep about it since the original news broke a couple months ago of another infraction and him checking into rehab. I am no expert on the discipline policy in the NFL but one would think him taking measures to directly address his addiction/issues would result in something positive on his suspension. Pretty much the whole punishment vs. rehabilitation schools of thought but with Goodell, I'm not holding my breath.....
Goodell has discretion to do whatever ever he wants in terms of a reduction. He won't do anything before he "completes" rehab.

Rehad is a hard place to get out of I think...

I think it depends on circumstances. But not for sure, just a little of what I know about it.
If one volunteers to go in, they can set a certain length of time. 30 days, 60, whatever. Also they may be able to leave when they want if they don't agree to a length of time, but probably is a minimum amount of time regardless, like 2 weeks as a huge guess.

If court or otherwise ordered. It can be 1 month, or even 6 months regardless of any progress.
I feel that somehow Gregory can be released around the time he is eligible to play.

Great, but will that shutdown those that wanted Ramsey in the draft? I am always conflicted about our draft. Anticipate the pick but not the fallout on the forum.

I was really over the top on Zeke more than any pick since I've been coming to Cowboys forums and sold him hard on another site. But, I did clarify that with being the only pick to offer immediate help in 2016. I don't do the future much, I am a season to season guy and wake up in a new one every year.

can't argue with that....I was coming from the angle of his suspension handed down by the league in lieu of him taking corrective measures. But yes and in the big picture, him getting healthy is most important, not my personal enjoyment watching him contribute to the Cowboy's 2016 season! :)

I'm just going by past history, if in the end it takes the entire 2016 season to get him clean and his situation under control then so be it. But what I am concerned about is that it is a ploy to lessen the suspension and in the end we will end right back to the same place dealing with more disappointment. This is something Gregory needs to take care of for himself and hopefully a future

I mean how could it not shut them down? It's as conclusive as it gets. I'll just give our fans a little credit and benefit of the doubt here.

Roger Goodell's "make it up as I go" rule book....
All teams...get the normal suspension, except....
Patriots, Steelers, Packers, Giants, I will only suspend if I have to to make it look good as if I am not biased, then reduce those suspensions later....
also...
Dallas players....double the games, screw them at all costs, all the time....

I hope he went to rehab to get his life in order as opposed to doing it just to lessen the suspension. If he is not there to tackle this problem and it is a problem for him, then he is there for the wrong reason.
Same here because I think Manziel did it to get out of the spotlight. I have some experience with the rehab route with my younger son and there are a lot of people in it playing the "go along game". I hope football has little to do with it and he's hit rock bottom because until they do some never think they have a problem, they think everyone else does.

I never was a Quincy Carter fan but that is just sad that he's back in the news again for the same crap. You have to check the date on the stories about him because they're all the same.

Did you record the play? Maybe that will convince them?

the way i understand it, he is suspended for 4 games, but could be facing a 10 game, i'm not sure if the rehab can keep it to only a 4 game.
Oh ok, I thought it was 10 games upfront. I'm sure that's what it will come to anyway.

It is sad seeing these young men throw their futures away. I see some here who love to say weed is no big deal and for them maybe it is not a big deal but when a person is willing to sacrifice their career over weed then it is a problem and it is a big deal. Gregory needs to get his life in order and I hope he can do that and go on to have a great career but it starts with Gregory himself.

I honestly wish him well.......but it's a damn shame.

I was anticipating his play almost as much as I do for Zeke and Dak.

I think he could actually be an outstanding athlete.

DO NOT want to see him in a documentary 10 years down the road portrayed as a complete failure.

I'm wit cha. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do on the field this year. I was willing to give him a chance after the Cowboys drafted him - though I really wish they would stay away from these projects. But when they become Cowboys, they get a little more sympathy from me.

And I think fans forget that before he got hurt in the first game of the season against the Giants, he was actually pushing the Giants offensive lineman back towards the quarterback. Then the ankle injury occurs, and I believe, he never was the same even when he came back.

It's really a bummer he could give up the pot. But I too am convinced it's not just "stupidity" as it is a deeper issue.

But I have decided just as with Ro McClain (whom I supported), I'm moving on from Randy Gregory. With all due respect to his issues, he just can't be trusted, and there's no sense in emotionally investing in players who have shown a propensity for not being available for whatever reason.
