Doomsday101;4073472 said:Why is that? These young guys are looking better than what the vets OL showed who helped us get 6-10.
There is a list of players on this team that tilt our season one way or the other from a playoffs standpoint...and that list is still intact. Not saying you need a Pro Bowler at every position (even though we did that a couple of years ago, on our way to another season without a playoff win), but you cannot pay Leonard Davis, Andre Gurode, etc....top dollar to be average players.ScipioCowboy;4073462 said:Not a fan of cutting Gurode, to be perfectly perfectly candid.
However, I'm merely a fan, and I only think year-to-year. I want the Cowboys to field the most competitive team possible each season -- an approach that isn't always in the best long-term interest of the team.
I'm beginning to think that Garrett has assessed this team's potential, and concluded that it isn't playoff-caliber. Consequently, he's making decision to become competitive in future seasons.
Earlier? Gurode didn't play one snap in TC this year. The kids have taken every sanp.Corleone;4073458 said:Philly's offensive line is so bad, I would be kind of surprised if he didnt end up there, unless he's still got eagle hate after being a Cowboy for so long.
I think they could have gotten SOMETHING for him, if he didnt announce it on live TV Saturday maybe they could have called some teams but I dont agree with cutting him outright at all. I just dont trust this new Kowalski kid, Costa wont be ready until after week one.
I love getting younger but that is a bit too young, too fast for me and for Romo's health. Really hope this works out, they should have made the move earlier so we could have seen the kid more.

Yeah that can be the only reason.Zimmy Lives;4073393 said:Yes. The difference is that the offensive players had fat contracts that they did not live up to last year.
Some might argue that Newman has a fat contract but he is still the best at his position unless Jenkins can supplant him.

From one of the other threads about Gurode, there was mention of the rumor of a degenerative knee condition as well as the fact that some Chargers players were saying that he has lost a step (good pass blocker/awful run blocker). This is purely a business decision. For what Garrett wants to do from an offensive scheme (agile, athletic lineman that can get to the next level/block in space), Gurode no longer fits that description.

I don't get it.
