Gus Johnson separated shoulder

YES, facts. You just posted a quote that stated they are "nicked up". They may be minor injuries, but they are injuries nonetheless, and kept them out of a preseason game. With RBs that have a lot of to prove, any amount of time on the field should be important to them.

You don't risk turning minor into nagging or major. It's the first preseason game. They'll all be back at practice tomorrow (Saturday). If it were the regular season, I'm sure 2 of them would've been suited up.

I'm not saying I am against holding them out of a preseason game, I'm saying they are in fact injured or battling injuries, whether they are minor or large (I consider McFadden's a little more than minor with his history hamstring injuries)

I didn't see the game but the numbers show he had a lot of work tonight... and wasn't all that impressive.
I know folks will run to his defense- as the current darling of training camp- but numbers don't lie.
actually, number frequently lie.
not saying they necessarily are here, but they most certainly do lie.

I will say this: Irvin sure seemed high on Gus at the half.

looked like a pretty good practice squad option to me.

this may make it so he could be PUP'd 6 six weeks then slid onto the practice squad later.
make himself a bit more money.

of course at this point in camp they may need the roster spot and waive him injured then settle.

We never had our starting 5 going.

We had most of the starting OL out there to start the game. People can defend Johnson if they choose, to me he was not much more than a JAG. It was expected the guy is an UDFA who got a last min call because of the injury Dallas was dealing with at RB. I like fairy tales as much as anyone but the reality is he did not look very good and now is injured.

Point to where I could have "lost an argument" - by stating Johnson looks to have a ceiling that Phillip Tanner had?

Make a counter-argument or please, don't respond.

If you have something that tells me Gus is more than just a PS guy at this point, I beg of you, show/tell me. His combine doesn't impress me and who he is comparable to, and he didn't look impressive last night.

If you can't provide an argument, I really couldn't care less about anything you have to say. So, what do you have?

The debate was between you and some other posters. My point is that they kicked your arse in the debate. I was originally on your side of the subject, but you did such terrible job of defending the position that I'm leaning towards the point of view of the posters who took the opposite side of the debate from you.

It all started going downhill after the following and you never recovered. Ranting is not debating and all I saw from you was ranting and personal attacks.

But he wasn't impressive. Numbers are telling the truth.
How'd Melvin Gordan look? 6 carries, 11 yards. We should have drafted a RB right? LOL

He can't be put on PUP - once you practice, much less play a game, that option doesn't exist. If anything, he would be waived injured, and hope that he goes unclaimed so they can IR him.

Did Smith play? I was under the impression he did not. And then I think I saw Martin playing tackle.

Neverthrless the vast majority of Johnson's carries came with backups.

I'm not even enamored with the kid. Just find it funny the overreaction to training camp reports. And now the overreaction to preseason games.

We went 0-4 last year if you recall.

I'm not sure where the trouble is from this.

Where did I say Gordon had an impressive game? And last I checked, Gordon wasn't going against a Chargers D or running behind the same line as ours. So why you guys feel this is some kind of trump card is beyond me.

You bringing up Gordon's production in that game means nothing. Johnson and Gordon neither had impressive games. But one left the game with an injury, the other is a top 15 pick with high upside. You give some leeway with the latter. You don't give much with a lesser known guy who ran a 4.7 at the combine and didn't look very impressive in any of the other categories either.

So, again I ask, do you have a counter-argument? Are you going to provide me something that tells me Johnson looked impressive?

Saying the best this kid will likely do is make PS I don't think is an over reaction I think that is pretty much reality. I'm not worried about wins or loses. Don't forget he played vs 2nd string players as well. SD was not playing 1st string. As far as I could see there is nothing special about Gus Johnson for those who think he is some diamond in the rough that is cool I just don't see it. He will be nothing more than an after thought as we move closer to the season.

Any chance we can get our hands on Oliver? He looked the part.
Unfortunately, Gus will prob be released, as they will need to sign someone to play next game. Prob a vet.

So you didn't realize we were missing 2 of our 5 starters and playing a 3rd (Martin) out of position.

Just making sure.

I realize RB should have played better. I expect much more from our starters than I saw from some the guys we had playing last night. I don't want to come down on Gus but he is what he is a last min addition because of injuries at RB. Nothing more.
