Willie Jackson wasn't too bad playing alongside J. Smith & K. McCardell for a few years in JAX.

For the same reason I forgot to include Woodrow Dantzler and Reshard Lee on this list.

We are reaching way to far in this thread.

Wright? Lee? Dantzler? Shanle? :bang2:

What's it going to be then, eh?

Wright did not get a fair shake and I think in comparison to people like Ryan Leaf and Chad Hutchinson he would have been an improvement. But no, it is hard to rue a career backup type. Shanle actually has played decent football for the Saints. You could add Scott Fujita as well.

Dantzler and Lee (and Amendola) were jokes. All were recent heroes who never were nearly as good as people on message boards thought they were.

Wright got as much of a shot as he deserved after he quit on the team to have surgery when we needed him. He could have waited on the surgery from what I remember. Plus he wasn't that good. Was he better than Leaf or Hutch? Not much.

Hey guys. Since this is a bit of a dead period, thought it would be fun to make an entire starting lineup of guys the cowboys once had on their team but they got rid of them and went on to have productive careers. Im talking offense, defense and special teams. Anyone wanna give this a try?

Ron Stone, Oliver ? (olinemen his last name eludes me)

Jimmy Smith

Just thinking of the last few years, Abram Elam does spring to mind, along with Devery Henderson. Neither one is a star by any means, but they both have been much, much more productive with their new teams than the people we kept above them in the depth chart. And they're both positions of great need over the last couple of years. It drives me crazy to see that happen. It's too early to put Amendola on that list, but it's certainly possible that he will produce with some team. We'll see. Another one who possibly qualifies is Jason Ferguson. Also Matt Moore.

Looking at it from the other direction, Dallas has done a great job over the years of adding players from other teams who were productive here.

These are just off the top of my head. Some only had one good year, but still....

Bernie Kosar
Randall Cunningham
Steve Beuerlein
Eddie LeBaron
Rodney Peete
Drew Bledsoe
Vinny Testaverde

Preston Pearson
Chris Warren

Lance Alworth
Otto Stowe
Terrell Owens
Joey Galloway
Rocket Ismail
Ernie Mills

Jay Novacek
Mike Ditka
Jackie Smith (sorry)

Leonard Davis
Kyle Kosier
Marc Columbo
Ray Donaldson
Derek Kennard
Nate Newton
Mark Stepnoski (2nd time around)

Charles Haley
John Dutton
Tony Casillas
LaRoi Glover

Chuck Howley
Zach Thomas
Vinson Smith

Herb Adderley
Deion Sanders
Ryan McNeil
Philippi Sparks
James Washington
Anthony Henry

I realize there are a lot that I'm forgetting, but the flow of good players going in and out of Dallas has been pretty lopsided. We've had a lot more coming in.

wow. I just googled him and apparently we did not. Somehow I've always thought he was a last-minute training camp cut from our roster. Confabulation...

I can still remember Peter King raving about Pete Hunter after spending the weekend in the Dallas war room. Oy.

Herschel, too.

Yep, one of my favorites and I forgot him.

Not many players gave more to the Cowboys than he did. Provided a spark when Tony was beginning to fade in the late 1980s, then brought a ton of talent in the most lop-sided trade in NFL history, then came back to be a solid player and return man at the end of his career.

He was a draft bust until he was traded now he becomes one that got away. Gotta love this board. :laugh2:

Bad idea because 90% of the Cowboys who left in the past 10 years have reeked out loud, thats why most Cowboy fans can have sour grapes towards the guys who leave... If Jerry lets you go then chances r no one will want you!
