Are playing out of position, IMO. We need to kick Tyler Smith out to LT, move Steele to LG, and move Guyton out to RT, where he played in college. Steele is a turnstile at RT and we all know it. If both of these don’t pan in theses new positions, thet won’t pan out period.

I've never understood the argument to play Guyton at RT since its his natural position, but then also kick Steele inside to a position hes never played before. Why not minimize the positional change and leave these guys alone? Moving Guyton back to the right side after training the last year and a half to play on the left side probably does more harm than good right now. You're also taking a top 5 Guard in the league and rolling the dice on a new position. Granted he could probably be fine at Tackle, his biggest downfall is that he can be a penalty machine...throw him outside and there is a good chance we see that.

Just let these guys play the positions they've been at and let them get some continuity. Honestly I don't think left side vs right side makes much of a difference once you've been on a particular side for a year plus.

Then we'd have Tyler playing out of position.

Question: Why are so many of you obsessed w/ moving Tyler? He's a top 5 OG. At OLT, he had holding issues due to some physical limitations. Why?

Well said.

Tyler has always been a penalty machine on the outside. Just doesn't have the foot quickness to mirror edge rushers.

I wish people would do just a little bit of research.

So is Beebe playing out of position also?
Right? Dude looks like a top 10 C and a stalwart there for a decade. At OG, his short arms would limit his success.

Why do so many ignore physical traits and how they dictate where a player should play?

been saying this for a while. why move Steele to LG, Bass did great there. but if they want competition, the Steele can compete. he is a turnstile because he has lost all his lateral mobility.

Steele had a devastating knee injury, Guyton is coming along.

Simple. To keep the QB upright. It isn't ideal. I want to see the current starting OL enter the season as-is. That would mean they have shown the ability to protect the QB. If Guyton regresses (my biggest concern on that line. Questionable work ethic and character coming out of college), we could be looking a liability protecting the blindside of a now injury prone QB. That is a problem. Smith had some penalties, but has shown he can man LT if necessary. If the options are either allowing Guyton to find his rhythm and opening Dak up for injury, or shuffling the line, losing a bit in the run game but solidifying the bookends, I'm going with the latter. I don't expect Guyton to play as an all-pro this year, but we really need to see some improvement before declaring that the line is set.

This has been discussed about 75 times and I'm going to tell you how I responded each time we'll leave it up to the coaches you're not a coach you're not a professional of any kind in the Pro Football game we know this If they decide they want to do this and it's the right move they will but you're not reminding any coaching Staffs and a front office full of people who've been putting rosters together their whole lives that you think you've thought of something they never thought of and it hasn't been discussed in here to nauseam let them figure it out this is a brand new coaching staff with a very experienced offensive coordinator who used to be an offensive line coach and an offensive line coach who should be better Evaluating talent than our last one and especially from the fan base.

fans constantly do this,

they think that they know something that coaching staff hasn't thought of or won't do or decides not to do for good reason All the professionals in here are wasting their talents you should really try to purchase your own team be your own GM and put the roster together anyway you seem fit.....

I think Guyton n Steele are fine where they're at. Two different OL staffs have these guys in the same spots, so give this better group of OL coaches the time work with these guys and see what happens. Guyton was always a developmental player even if you played him at RT.

If Steele doesn't work inside, move Bass inside. He's got game.

Tyler should stay where he's at. Zach could've probably been a pro bowl tackle too, but he was a HOF guard. Tyler's trajectory looks similar (thus far)

A front office and coaching staffnthat has failed for 30 years and has one of the worst post season performances in any sport not just football. If they succeed then doubting their decisions will automatically go away.

I mean that front office drafted a guy who was a RT in college and had started only 8 games because they thought henis athletic. Same thing they did with Mazi and Charlton. How did those work out.

So I question any decision made by this front office. I gave the same answer the last 75 times.

Punctuation please! My suggestion about moving the two is because it’s blatantly obvious that they are our two biggest liabilities on the OL. Granted, Ty Smith sometimes struggles with his footwork when he kicks out to left tackle, but Guyton is already a bust. Steele is at his best when he’s either run blocking or doesn’t have to quickly adjust his footwork as is needed at RT. To me, moving the two is a last ditch effort before moving on from both. It looks like we may finally have some good depth at LT, so I wouldn’t hesitate to bench Guyton for a while if he struggles early on in the season.

Truth.

Cooper BB one of the best picks in that draft.

Give Guyton time.

He’s putting in the work.

Last season was a train wreck for everyone.

No.

Smith has become an all pro at guard. Leave him alone.

I’m sure Stephen would tell us that Guyton and Steele have to “want to get better” at their positions. Stephen…the guy who’s never earned anything in his life.
