Hamlin would be a mistake

improving the team is never a bad thing

your right but signing people who dont have a great chance in improving our team is. There's a reason we make fun of the skins, because they over pay for Below average or average players (LLoyd archleta), only to watch them fail over and over again (LLoyd, archelta)

he was better than both our FS last year
how do you not see that?
if he plays like last year he is an upgrade, period.

but see thats the thing. Last year.

Who knows if he will be better THis year. Theres a reason the seahawks didnt resign him, and its not because hes demadning a huge contract. His skill level has dropped since his head injury. and there is no reason to bring him in, when we can just as well draft someone, or give watkins another chance. Its not like he is the only guy who can cover

mel kiper on yet another show said he was a pro bowl caliber guy, where are you getting all this run stopper only garbage?

If Mel Kiper's pumping him, I'd be worried for that reason alone. Why the Hair Helmet still has a job is a mystery; maybe he's comic relief.

The real question is: how much did the injury affect him- and can he regain his 2005 form. Only if the answers are positive to both questions will he be a real upgrade.

Hamlin DOES improve the team if signed, I know you love Watkins but lets get real he wasnt great last year, and do we really need to HOPE he will be good this year and risk getting screwed if he is not? OR should we hedge our bets and sign a successful FS

Well, he tied his highest tackle total, had a career high for PDs, and was 1 INT away from his career high. To me, it was the tackling that would really show if a guy who had a broken skull was all the way back. He wasn't afraid at all to stick his head in and pound guys in the running game.

There was talk on the Seahawks board that he was less aggressive and seemed to be less willing to bring the wood after his injury. And that his coverage skills were not as good. Which would explain Seattle giving up on him.

If he comes cheap, I really don't see the downside.

That's the truth. With a reasonable contract, Hamlin is worth the risk. I wouldn't give him a lot of guarantees, other than a chance to start, if he earns it. Not worth breaking the bank, but a similiar gamble to Marc Colombo.

This may be one of those injuries that take more than one year to recover from.

Interesting -- maybe Roy broke his skull too.

Although when I watched the Seahawks, I saw a team that tackled horribly. Hamlin often looked like the only guy who wasn't afraid to hit.

Hamlin is a better safety than Archuleta that's a no brainer....

Hamlin is ONLY 26 years old, that's pretty young.

But once again, why should we sign a FS and HOPE that he wil return to form, when we can put just as much of a gamble on wat we have and even the draft. What differnce does it make WHO we HOPE on, when its HOPE either way?

Why are you guys arguing over something you have no control of? The bottom line is that he's better than Davis...

There is no downside to signing Hamlin.

I don't care how tall Pat Watkins is.

worst comes to worst

we'll have the most fearsome safety tandem in the league :)

with an improved pass rush, that can spell some serious fear for receivers trying to deal with patterns based on quick drops.
