I didn't want Kellen gone. I just didn't want him calling and scheming plays. Don't forget, McCarthy was the play caller in Green Bay as well as HC and won a Superbowl in spite of his Primadonna QB who ended up getting him fired and who is trying to get their current HC fired. I have complete faith in McCarthy calling and scheming plays. Personally, I thought he should have been doing it the second he was hired but the Jones' were adamant that Kellen was going to be the play caller.

They had to make a change and they could not get rid of Dak so Kellen and QBC are gone. Kellen is paying for Dak’s failures.
Kellen will gain from this move by gaining experience with teams, players and coaches not tainted by Garret.

Burrows threw game losing INTs last night. He is as much at fault for Bengals loss as Dak is for our loss.
Yep, he threw two bad balls for sure.

I'm glad he left.

He seems like a nice guy and I don't want to see him be punished for having to work with Dak.

Also, it eliminates another excuse for Dak and I'm also down for that.

Moore was better at his job than Dak is at his job. Ya'll will see that soon enough.

The offense scored a lot of points in the best division in football. Hard to say Moore was the issue when guys would run open and Dak would miss them. A lot of guys ran the wrong routes too. That's not playcalling but it could be coaching. Hard to see how he offense does better than it has unless someone can magically make Dak more consistent. He is not a natural passer and while he has worked on his mechanics, they can degrade under less than ideal circumstances.

To me though it is less about coaching and more about how we spend the cap. In terms of spending as a % of the cap, we spent the 8th most money on a QB and the most on RB. Next year Dak's contract puts us at 2nd most. Jerry makes money off of these contracts but it doesn't optimize our dollars on the field. Too many large dollar deals to players who shouldn't get it. I can at least understand paying Dak since it's QB, but we should have let Zeke walk. We also seemed to be locked into these contracts that prevent us making moves. Why sign Gallup off injury over keeping Amari?

I really roster building is the fundamental problem and we'll just keep cycling through coaches until one of the Jones realizes that.

A tid bit of navy speak. With leadership you cannot delegate accountability MM! You can delegate responsibilities to your team such as OC & DC. Ultimately, MM was side by side on how KM called games and results were positive. So what changed after the loss? Like my previous posts MM isn’t really the HC. Just ask Jimmy Johnson. Jerry is accountable for 28 straight failures in the playoffs. He is solely accountable for building an organization that has not produced a SB in 28 years just let that settle in. The cowboys will continue in mediocracy with occasional playoff appearances with Jerry in charge. Please retire Jerry and take family with you!

lol@ Kellen a scapegoat. Kellen was better than Garrett, but that doesn't mean you can't get better. Kellen should have been allowed to work himself up the ranks and learn under a coaching tree, but like Garrett, was on the Jerry Jones fast track and his development as a coach was stunted.

If Dak was the problem, the offense wouldn't have gotten significantly better once Dak came in. We had one of the worst offenses in the league when Dak broke his ankle. The offense was serviceable this year under Cooper Rush but not great. We rarely scored more than 20. Once Dak comes in, we score 30.

not a scapegoat, but part of the problem. Jerry screwed Kellen and Kellen screwed himself. you have to take your lumps in the NFL, go through the ranks, coach positions, be Offensive quality control guy, be run game coordinator, etc. to learn the various aspects of the game. you don't go from QB coach after all of one year and one year of coaching experience anywhere to OC and find success.

the same things you complain about Dak, well, it applies to Moore. his offense struggled against better teams. not just struggle, but shut down. his play calling was unimaginative at times. he was up and down and his offensive game management left a lot to be desired. can Dak have helped? yes, but if you need an Elite QB for your offense to succeed in tough games, then your offense needs revamped. Niners did it with a 7th round pick, 3rd stringer. Philly did it with Hurts and he has 120 yards passing in NFCCG.

I argued against Moore when he was hired. I argued there after. I saw some improvements, but not enough. I said it back then, he is green. he has to learn. he has to take his lumps and we will suffer along the way and that we did.

and this is begining of cleaning house. coaches couldn't coach up the players. we were undesciplined group at times. so Jerry starts with the coaches. players are next and that's a bit tougher.
Not a surprise, you've always been an ardent fan of Dak.
You say 'coaches couldn't coach'....well Moore's coached offense did well vrs ths Bucc's, and for a half vrs the 49ers (1st Ranked Defense) the Offense was doing well.....Pollard goes down....Dak can't raise his game.
Doesn't matter which way you look at it, Dak isn't the man to face adversity, as many of us believe, if every external factor's doing well then he's excellent, just cut raise his game.
What could Moore have done to enable Dak step up because some believe we need less complex schemes and others claim we just run curls...at the end of the day Moore (and now his successor), can only scheme up domething his QB can deliver.

We never really started blaming the coordinator as much as we do until a few years ago.
There would be a few that point out the obvious in the Romo era (and how he didn't trust the play-calling) but that was the exception, not the rule.

In this Prescott era, the OC has been getting blamed relentlessly
I've never seen anything like it.
Not saying some was not deserved, but it is telling nevertheless.

And now we know why Quinn decided to stay onboard. McCarthy fails as offensive coord he is let go and Quinn steps into a Homerun!
This does appear to be the plan to me as well. If it fails again next year the job is Quinn's.

This is a great move for Kellen Moore. If he does go to the Chargers, he will thrive with Herbert as his QB.

As for the Cowboys? Blah. Sean Payton redux

And the OC hollering around here will only intensify

I am not an ardent fan of Dak, but I get the narrative of dak haters. if you don't constantly, 24x7, on every single thing attack Dak and hate on him, then you are an Ardent Fan of Dak!!

and I didn't say he couldn't coach. I said he wasn't good enough. he was inconsistent. he struggled at times....but seems like those good games you give credit to Moore, but not Dak. and all the bad games, Dak gets the blame, while you want to excuse Moore.

and Dak is what Dak is a non elite, above average QB. but seems like you are complaining that he can't raise his game to be elite. oh well, color me surprised. Dak is not elite.

Moore's play calling and scheme left a lot to be desired. SF was able to adjust the scheme to allow their 3rd string QB to be successful. Eagles are going to the superbowl with 120 yards of passing. somehow these other coaches over came the limitations of their QBs....

but ours solely depends on an Elite QB being a necessarily part of the offense for it to be successful, given you are complaining abotu Dak not being elite.

And trust me when I say this.....equally, if you didn't praise Dak 24/7 you were a hater. There were equal parts of all that going on...and it was maddening.

Hopefully "was", but I really doubt it.

I don't praise dak. show me where I praise Dak 24/.7. again to you if I don't pour on hate incenssently and blame everything that ails this franchise on Dak, then I must be an ardent dak fan.

that's your mindset. I am not about getting rid of one player foolishly thinking that it makes us great. that's fools gold. there are lots of problems with Dallas that need fixing. Dak is one of them. to you its the only problem and there are no others.

You turn every one of your posts into a Defense of Dak. I'm not giving any grading system to Dak....for me he's excellent when EVERYTHING's going his way, but he visibly falls apart when something goes wrong or isn't working.

Moore has talent, especially with play design. He calls an inconsistent game though. How much of this is on dak and how much is it on him? We will find out next season.
