Great to watch Arizona's formations and play designs last night. Lots of bunch of the receivers and really no overt pick plays either. Just bunch them up, run their routes and see the opposing defense get confused as to whom to cover. You can go long, deep or intermediate with that stuff. You can create mismatches and I don't think anybody would confuse Arians' offense for being undisciplined.

Watching their offense function just brings to light how bland, uncreative, and plain crappy our offensive play design is. They're route combinations are designed to confuse defenders and make them second guess their coverage assignments, whereas ours are predicted on simply outrunning defenders in one on one coverage.

He has two years left on his deal, and is almost a Jr. GM in New Orleans. It sounds like it's going to take major compensation (ie 1st rounder +) to get him. Would you pay that for him, while eating millions on Garrett's existing contract and probably Payton demanding an extension to be the highest paid coach in the league?

This is all completely ignoring the fact that he's got a rebuild in NO with a high pick coming so might groom his own QB, or will be offered chances to go places where there's a younger QB than ours to work with and near-GM capacity. Why on earth would he come here to work for the Jones'?

You can no longer trade for coaches if I remember correctly.

He would have to resign, they eliminated trading coaches for draft picks years ago, I think.

Word is that there are serious ownership issues in NO. The kids of the owner (Tom Benson) and his wife are fighting over control of the team. The kids supposedly don't like Peyton and want to get rid of him. And I'm guessing Peyton wants out with all the turmoil going on at the owners level.

But there is no way Jerry is going to eat the rest of Garretts contract and hire Peyton for $6-$8M a year. Even though he could easily afford it.

Here is some background so some of the issues: http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2015/06/saints_benson_competency_lawye.html

Makes no sense to pay the 25 mil left on Garrett's contract to only dish out another 30 million plus to bring in another coach. I don't see our FO spending nearly 50 million for the HC spot.

Reasons why he would come to Dallas are as follows:
1. Sean has a great relationship with the Jones Family.
2. Recently got divorced. I believe his ex-wife and children are still in the Dallas area. I think he has a home in Dallas or he recently put it on the market.
3. Jerry will compensate him very well.
4. Being the Dallas HC is one of the Top Jobs in the NFL.

And supposedly it's the same Air Coryell scheme. We just can't be bothered to try it.

Yeah as I see the posts about coach trading rules and the turmoil I get it the ambiguity around this. But as I understand a team can be "compensated" for releasing a coach once a deal has been worked out. It was clarified with Harbaugh talk last year, unless its been changed further.

Considering the legal battle that I'm sure is going on in NO with ownership, whenever you have lawyers involved in fighting over assets of value, things will get very, um, creative and I'm sure the legal teams won't let him go for free.

If he resigns I would assume there are penalties, but not sure we can know the details of his contract, or do we?

Pittsburgh does it too...Sometimes the best route is the guy in the middle just settling in after 10 yards because the defenders scattered with the other two.

Can you really put a price on winning. Winning should be the ultimate goal for all professional organizations. As Barry Switzer once stated, "Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you". JG has taken the Jones Family for a lot of money with little in return. It is better to lose money than to save money but not Win the Super Bowl. Jerry is not getting any younger and sometimes you need to pull out all the stops to Win. Witten and Romo deserve a chance to win a Super Bowl. A change of culture with a new HC may be the key to get us over the hump.

Their players make the catch too. low, high, near the sidelines, shoe string type catches. and i like how they go long quite often. Seems 10 times the amount we do.
