Hard to Overstate the Importance of This One

I always hate the phrase "must-win game," especially at this stage of the season, so I will avoid it. How about, "Game with huge implications" instead? Hard to believe at 9-1, but we really don't have a ton of room for error.

The Giants are a virtual lock to win this week at Cleveland. If we lose, they move to one behind us in the East. And this becomes a three-horse race in the East if the Skins win.

Also important: we need to keep our foot on the gas if we want to keep the 1-seed. Seattle is firing on all cylinders, and looking at their schedule, it is not inconceivable that they could win out.

This will definitely be the most "locked in" I've been for a Thanksgiving game in a long, long time. I'll gobble up my turkey, share some laughs with the family, and then everyone would do well to just stay away from me come 3:30.

It is not a must-win game because we could lose and still win the division and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

That said, it is a need-to-win game as it would basically eliminate the Commanders for the division title, would let us stay at least 2 games up on the Giants making our game with them not a must-win game, and would give us a division win and conference win which would be important for tie-breakers.

Every game from here on out is very important for the NFC East title until the Commanders or Giants lose another one.

I really think we cannot lose more than 1 more game to secure home field for the playoffs. I do think Carolina will do us a favor and be Seattles only remaining loss though - as long as Kueckly returns that is.

It would really drive the Giants fans crazy if they beat us twice this season, we have home field throughout while they have to play a wild card game that they could easily lose.

Is every week a must win game? Sheeeeeez.

Yes, yes it is. Because a loss will bring out the naysayers from the word work and the CZ will go into meltdown mode because of it. :muttley:
We will have 5000 threads of put in Romo, trade Dez, should have drafted Ramsey for defense.

And plus, I just want another win and especially over the Commanders. :D

Yeah. Time to isolate in the sanctuary of the man cave cause the rest of them just don't understand, my brother. Lol. Especially those who dare talk about baking recipes while you're watching the game!?! Ugh!!!!

I've been saying that about seattle's schedule for a bit now. While they beat the Eagles, Philly did us a favor of beating up the Seahawks a bit for the next stretch of games. Hopefully they will have 1 or 2 stumbles. I for one don't want to be forced to go up there to play an NFC championship game if it comes to that.

But yes - we control our own destiny at this point and need not let up now.

And I don't mind the term "must win game" cause if they're saying that about you then your team has something to play for - hyperbolic or not. It means your games are RELEVANT and you have something significant at stake. How many of us thought this would be the case at the beginning of the season???

Cleveland gets their 1st win this week. Washington chanted...we want Dallas....well, they are going to get a heavy dose of Dallas....

To be able to maintain a comfortable lead on the Giants this is a big game, Then again every game is big until the league puts the x next to the team name in the standing indicating a playoff birth has been locked up as well as Home field advantage.

I'd like the *
  • [ * ] Clinched Homefield Advantage in Playoffs
  • [y] Clinched Division Title
  • [z] Clinched First-Round Bye
  • [x] Clinched Playoff Berth

Actually I believe every week should be viewed as must win.

You shouldn't worry about what could play out if this and this happens after a loss.

They're all must win. Especially division games.

Every week from here on out is a "must win". We have Seattle starting to fire on all cylinders, Wilson is healthy and is hitting Graham and Butler with laser precision. He has the highest accuracy on deep throws in the league. Their D isn't 2014 (or even 2015) good, but they're still the Legion of Boom. A very stout D.

Look, it's not "must win" in the sense of going to the playoffs or winning the division, per se, but "must win" if we want that sweet, sweet home field advantage and not need help from others to beat Seattle, who are only 1.5 games back of us.

Unless you guys want there to be a chance to have to play Seattle in Seattle? I'm not particularly fond of that, myself. Why this isn't viewed the same by most of our fans is confounding.

"Must win" doesn't mean you have to be "doom and gloom" if we lose, it simply means it makes it a tad harder to secure HFA throughout the playoffs.

But to each their own. Go Cowboys!

These division games DO carry more weight.
But that's as far as it goes for now.

I comepletly disagree. This has larger implications this deep in the season than just a division game, JC. If we lose we need SEA to lose to keep that 1.5 game lead.

We'll be a nice hotel on Thursday. We'll have Chinese buffet for lunch ... and then the wife and kids are hitting the hotel pool. They are not to come back to the room until 7pm.

This team is too good to settle for a simple playoff spot, is all I'm trying to convey. We have the best record in the league, we deserve HFA.

Every week is a must win until HFA is clinched.

Isn't that true with ALL of our games? yes, it is.
This one has the added twist that it also gives a division rival a win...and against us directly. So even worse.
