Ok, for you people defending Hardy and his employment with the Cowboys....... where do you draw the line?

Murder? Molestation? Rape? Theft? Abuse?

Where is the line? Or does it depend on how good he is at his position?

None of his defenders have the guts to answer. Typical but not surprising for this place.

I fully expect Jerry to dig in and show they support Hardy and still want to sign him long-term. I'm pretty sure any team that even considered signing Hardy this past summer has viewed every photo and report pertaining to this case, so todays events change nothing in that aspect.

I saw on BSPN today that the only the nfl legal team was able to see the pictures up until today. I believe it was ed werder (but I could be wrong) said that Dallas was able to call the nfl offices to get more info before signing him but they weren't able to see any pics.

I'm sure it's quite repugnant but not really shocking given the rampant adolescent male sexism of this board.

I find it also strange that it took pictures for some to start believing. Was the judges initial guilty verdict not enough to know the guy was probably in the wrong? All of a sudden there are pics and people see the reality. The fact that some still don't get it..no words!

I'd be surprised if the Cowboys changed their stance on him at this point, but I guess you never know.

The court of law and the court of public opinion are two different "courts" that operate under two different standards.

Just saying.

You're right, and I would never ever want to trust public opinion to get justice right. There have been numerous examples in American history of mobs taking the law into their own hands and getting justice wrong, of killing an innocent person.

No excuses and no defending of Hardy - just some facts of the case. The thing I would like to see is something being reported on the Charlotte legal scene and why they concluded he was never going to be found guilty by a trial.

Also, I get the outrage but let's not forget the Duke Lacrosse case which seemed like such low hanging fruit at the time. In the climate that we are in I think if you even tried to refute what might have happened you would get killed in the media, yet that's what journalism is supposed to be.

Again - just some facts.

1. Curtis (Ms. Holder's friend who was there) and Hardy both testified that she threw herself into his tile bathtub after he refused to pay her rent.

2. Curtis who went with Ms. Holder to collect the rent is no longer her friend, and has never supported any of her claims.

3. In the 911 call made by Hardy. Ms. Holder was being restrained by Curtis to keep her away from him. In the call he said she threw a shoe at him. Police first encountered her with only 1 shoe. In the call Hardy said she threw a glass at him. Police found a broken glass in his apartment. In the call Hardy said he was bleeding. The police report says he was bleeding from his cheek.

4. Ms. Holder admitted on the stand that she had done cocaine earlier before going there. Curtis had testified that Ms. Holder told her that Greg "hasn't seen crazy yet."

5. Hardy called 911 twice to get help with her.

6. Finally - the DA concluded they “did not have sufficient legal basis” to enter Ms. Holder's statements to police as evidence.

These are just a few facts.

I've heard a lot of this before. I really would like to know exactly what happened but like so many unanswered situations like this we probably never will. I just have doubts that Hardy just outright beat this woman. Hell I know it happens but I can't imagine any man or human for that matter just physically assaulting another human being without any kind of reason at all or self defense at all. I just wish we had a lot clearer picture of this but we likely never will and she obviously has some things to hide to just disappear like she has. Most people in a situation like this can't wait to run to the media and tell everyone about their story.

Well if he was found guilty, then different story.

Not only that but its not up to us to draw the line. You dont like it pick a new team. If he put hands on my family the law deals with it and if they dont then i do. I root for the Dallas cowboys, last time I checked Hardy was a Cowboy

I don't like that Greg Hardy was signed and I will not pick a new team. On top of that, I will even complain about it should the mood strike me. Right here on this very forum in fact.

Fair or unfair, because Hardy is basically a defensive superstar, he got more attention. The circumstances of his case made for a more interesting story as well. He also missed a whole year, then the NFL suspended him, then he had a very public appeal process which led to the news coming up again when the sentence was reduced. Now the news comes up again because the record was expunged and then pictures came out a day later.

Add that to the fact he plays for the Dallas Cowboys which is in a larger media market than any of those other players and you get what we have now.

Oh and don't forget that he also made some questionable comments about the wives of other players and then got into a verbal altercation with a coach on the sideline which had him knocking the clipboard out of his hands and having to be restrained.

See highlighted portion of your quote. That's the main reason right there.

Not defending Greg Hardy. But as much shame as should be heaped on the Dallas Cowboys for signing him, those other teams should share in the shame for signing those other guys who pled guilty of domestic abuse, those who pled "no contest" (has the same effect as a guilty plea) to the charge of domestic abuse, and those who were convicted of domestic abuse. Their victim's bruises were just as black and blue.

I am not defending Hardy. But I am defending his employment. There is no line. If he or anybody is allowed to play in the NFL then I would sign them. This is entertainment. These guys are just football players. They make money to entertain us and we pay money to watch them entertain us. They are not or should not be role models to anybody. Like I said before there are far more important people in this world than Football players. I think this is an indictment on the legal system in this country.

I am sorry .......I will go slower ....... Where do you draw the line on bringing in a good player with character issues? Rape? Murder? Child abuse? Child molestation?

I don't know about anyone else but I applaud your stance - and willingness to share your stance - on the issue. You're an unabashed homer, but you've also demonstrated that some things (few they may be) don't have to be supported just for the sake of fandom.

Don't get me wrong, now. I'm still not going to invite you over for tea and strumpets, but I do appreciate that you are willing to speak out against the team when it's obviously warranted.

An acceptable answer.

Are there pictures of Hardy showing his face cut, possibly by Holder?

When denying a male the right to exercise self defense in a confrontation with a female, is there a level of assault that permits the male to regain that right?

I completely agree. I kind of cringe stating the facts that discredit virtually everything she says happened but at the same time I just would like to know the truth. Sadly, if she was attacked - she will never get her day in court. If Hardy was attacked and she lied about the facts - Hardy will never get his.
