Has Linehan done a good job here?

I think our offense is just too vanilla. Its like Romo makes the whole thing go and even he is asked to do too much. What has Linehan done here, or anywhere, besides ride Murray's coat tail in 2014? His play calling is no better than Garrett's. Why is he here?

I think our offense is good overall, so it's kind of moot. But I don't think Linehan's play calling is exceptional. It's a bit more creative than Garrett's was, maybe. Overall, I think he's more a good fit in terms of temperament and his experience working with the HC than he is an exceptional coordinator. I like the guy ok and think he's part of a solid offensive staff. I don't love him or think he's likely to be irreplaceable.

I think it will remain "vanilla" as long as Romo is the QB. Say what you will, but Romo thrives in this vanilla offense since he is so good at diagnosing the defensive scheme at the line of scrimmage and adjusting to it. Throwing in a lot of wrinkles and I believe they think it might actually take away what he is best at. Our offense back in the day with Aikman/Emmitt/Michael was also pretty simple. Opponents often had trouble slowing them down as well.

Complicating the offense would also most likely result in even more offensive penalties because we don't always have the sharpest tools in the shed. Having a simple yet flowing, practiced until it's second nature offense can trump a more complicated offense where the players aren't as sure what to do and might make mistakes.

That's my guess as to why Linehan/Garrett don't have as expanded of playbook as what we would sometimes like.

No. Look no further than not being able to win with a backup QB. Weeden goes Houston and wins two games. Coincidence?

We scored roughly 29.5 png in 2014 so I'd say the offense is good. You'd like to get over 30 and if you can get to 500 points total then you're golden.

I think it's more of the fact Scott is forced to call plays based on Garrett's scheme. Garrett's scheme is antique and the league has passed it by. Look no further than Romo having to move Dez into the slot to create a mismatch as opposed to having it designed in the actually plan.

When he has had Antonio Ramiro Romo starting he has been very good in Dallas. I suspect should #9 play his customary 15 games this offense should be one of the League's best.

Last year was an aberration in my opinion for reasons I'm sure even the most pessimistic Cowboys fan can name...

this is a tough one. I loved all the changes that he made the first year that he was here. Things Garrett was NOt doing enough of. But then the second year after Romo went down I dont know how much was him and how much was Garrett. As far as the conservative, play scared, not prepared ect.....ect..... with our backup QB's.

No it's called having a better team to play behind esp the other side of the ball.

No. It is called inability to tailor your playbook to the talent thats available. Weeden said he was told to constantly check down here. I dont think much of Weeden but I do think more of O Brien than anybody on this staff. This staff has show zero ability to make adjustments over the years.

I really don't like the play calling sometimes, but then I usually can't argue with the PPG.

I'd like to see Dez in motion and some real progress on our screen game.

Garrett has been with the team 9 years. Yes sir. Nine years
During these 9 years as an offensive coordinator and head coach, he has wielded great influence over the offensive scheme, but yet it is still predictable and unimaginative. Yes I know linehan is the OC now, but Garrett as head coach has the ultimate say.

I think Linehan offense is fine and I disagree that it takes Romo, what is takes is a competent QB and I'm sorry but the 3 losers we had last year is not it. The offense is currently about Romo because outside of a rookie we know little about there is no legit QB.

Add to that the fact that the Texans have evolved into a system that's mkre conducive to a quarterback carousel (as opposed to Dallas). Cowboys are stuck on Romo and he makes up for the coaching staffs short comings.
