Has T.O. Lost a Step?

We have Austin. And TO doesn't appear to be slow to me although I admit he didn't get enough separation at times. IMO. And I certainly hope we use Felix downfield in the passing game some. He should be a nightmare to match up. I'm not certain he's has the lateral movement of a Westbrook but I think he can be elusive.

And when are some of you going to learn not to rely on one or two 40 times to judge people's football speed.

I don't think T.O. was EVER a speed burner. He was about being able to beat press coverage and being physical to get the ball. He was also very good after the catch. He wasn't brought here to stretch the field.

WR speed is insanely overrated. You need WR's that get open, not WR's that are fast.

Uh, TO is one of the absolute fastest ever to play. This is incredibly off base.

Yeah, well tell that to Bob Hayes' victims. If you're fast and can get separation you're more dangerous. And you have to be able to play the game underneath and the middle. Being one dimensional is what hurts a lot of speed guys.

No. YOU tell it to Patrick Johnson and Bashir Yamini and the hundreds of other fast guys who didn't know how to get open.

Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin are laughing at you.

When we're comparing a young Felix to TO, you know he's fast.

I'm saying when healthy, there is no way T.O. can keep up with Felix Jones. That guy runs a 4.2 40. T.O. is not running that. I can tell that by watching. Like I said, show me the clip. Even then, it'd be hard to see until I witnessed it on a daily basis, given I've seen how fast Felix is when not hampered by injuries.
Uhh.....what?

He's 35 years old. Of course he's lost a step.

Doesn't mean he can't play anymore, but he's definitely not the same player he was 5-7 years ago.

Directly on the money and well said. There is no shame in a player in his mid-30s being less than he was before.

Right, he barely ran under 4.5 at the combine- didn't he?

He ran an official 4.3 time somewhere else. I'm just saying he look a little slower--that's all.

Well here you had Felix faster than that...

You're pretty slippery...

T.O. was a speed burner. That's my point. At one point, he ran a 4.1--the fastest in the NFL. He doesn't run like that anymore.

And my bad, I thought Felix ran around a 4.2. I could have swore I read that somewhere.

It's ok, just jerking your chain a little.

I agree TO has lost astep, maybe two, but he is still pretty dang fast and that speed still translate onto the field. I do think he has lost more lateral movement too than straight speed- as someone already pointed out.

No one ever ran a 4.1, and certainly not TO. Felix never ran anywhere near a 4.2

I can't even decipher a single consistent point from your posts.

No, he never ran an official 4.3 time. He didn't run at his Pro Day and that is the only "official" time other than the Combine. At the Combine he ran a 4.44. Clearly, TO is still faster than a 4.44.

4.47 but who's counting....
