Really? I'd go find a new job.

I said this in a thread a few weeks ago, but how can you ask Romo and Witten to take pay cuts? Those two have given more to the team than anyone for nearly a decade. A team, by the way, that hasn't surrounded them with comparable talent until this season.

This entire idea of taking a pay cut for the good of the team was perpetuated by the media when Brady did it. Except he restructured his deal and actually gets MORE money in the long run.

Brady actually took a lot less money

He went from 16m a year to 9m a year, that is substantial

I don't know how someone can call out Murray for his fumbles and then be okay with Peterson. Adrian has had a far worse fumbling problem in his career than Murray has.

 What world do you live in??? People take pay cuts all the time in todays economy to keep the company they work for afloat and they can keep their jobs.

I've never once taken a pay cut. Not once.

If you're with a company that asks you to do this you might want to get a better job.

That's true, but not in the NFL. They are making boatloads of money. Dallas made something like 200m in profit last year. They have more than enough cash and cap space to take care of Murray and Dez. For whatever reason the NFL has decided not to pay RBs but Murray should be an exception.

No one needs to take a pay cut besides Carr and Melton, but that's because of production not perception

We can replace Murray's production adequately. The new financial responsibility will keep
us clear when we see a player will really need.

I would say a 26 year old RB that just set the Franchise record for yardage(Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith and Herschel Walker) and did something only 16 other RBs in the history of the game have done is someone we really need.

For the last couple weeks all I'm hearing is how much Romo is pleading with Jerry to keep Murray, how Murray wants to stay and cares more about a super bowl than money, and how Jason Witten doesn't think Murray can be replaced.

If Romo and Witten want Murray back so much, and Murray wants to be back and thinks a super bowl is more important than money, there should be no reason why between the three of them, they can't do some team friendly super bowl oriented adjustments to their salaries and salary demands.

I'm squarely in the Adrian Peterson camp. If he is available he should become a Cowboys. That means if he is released or can be traded for a small sum.

I think glossing over Murray's fumbles, especially in a key playoff game, doesn't do justice to how hard the rest of the players played this year. I like Murray a lot, but this team is bigger than him. If he does come back it shouldn't be at a great cost. And Romo and Witten who have made more money than they can spend in a lifetime should focus more on cementing their legacies (in this man's opinion).

I'd like to see this team make a statement next year, and two players who could help make that happen by more than just their performances on the field are clearly Witten and Romo.

Bingo...

SSSSHHHHHH your going to hurt feelings. People want AP because they think he's great. He's a good player with one good season and that makes him special. Murrays yards are because the great offensive line who disappeared in the last three games.

Some one is going to be butt hurt when Murray resigns and AP is no where to be found.

I see your point. There are other options the FO is thinking over.
Murray certainly has a lot of merit I wont argue that point.
The numbers say production will decline next year but I am sure it
would be a good number anyway.
All n all I'd rather spend less if the production can be satisfactory.

I agree I don't expect anyone to take a paycut. Though it would be admirable. Tony and Witten have had talent around them and have failed to get it done. 06-09 teams had talent and didn't capitalize for whatever reason.

I never said people don't take pay cuts. I'm saying people don't voluntarily take paycuts just for the sake of the company. That doesn't happen. People are usually FORCED to take a pay cut or to get fired. That's a big difference than a player just voluntarily taking a pay cut at his job just so the fans can be happy.

Most NFL fans aren't millionaires who make millions of dollars every year, and every additional million makes no difference in their life style.

They also don't have jobs that relate to a salary cap where their salary directly reduces the salary and thus quality of their co-workers....

Apples and oranges.

Well fans also don't face life threatening illnesses or injuries in their profession either.

No its not apple to oranges. You're telling me that no one in this league will give Demarco what he wants? Of course not. The Cowboys may only want to pay Demarco a certain amount but there are teams in this league who will happily give him what he's worth and fans want him to take a cut? Its silly logic IMO. Just come out and say that you want him to take a pay cut so that it will benefit our cap. But to make it a moral issue or a selfish issue? Its silly to me.

It's crazy to entertain the thought of breaking up the new triplets before they've been given a fair chance to make a playoff run.

Keep all three. Peterson might want to sign just because he's hungry for a Super Bowl. Having an offensive line like Dallas does, will make running backs take a pay cut to play behind them.

Yeah! Isn't fairness what this world is all about?

Acquiring Peterson is a pipedream that will never and should never happen. He is currently commanding a salary twice that of what the Cowboys have offered Murray. Trust me, Peterson isn't going to take that kind of pay cut to play in Dallas.

Keeping Murray isn't going to be easy. If it happens I'll be thankful but not keeping him won't be the worst thing that ever happen to Dallas. There are other options at the RB position that will do just fine.
