Newman is not going anywhere. Jerry Jones already made a comment, after a couple of Cowboys games, that he has every intention of resigning Newman.
You're not going to get rid of Newman who is one of the better corners in the NFL just so that you can HOPE that a young guy will come in here and do great.
Besides, even with being 30 at the start of the season, it's not like 30 exactly means he's dead. Lots of guys play till they're 34, 35 and do quite well. I suppose you'd have been pushing Darrel Green out the door, and Deion as well, the moment they hit 30?
Note, as well, that I'm not trying to say Newman is as good as either of those two, so before you guys get all in a furious frenzy over that, all I'm saying is that he's a very good player and you don't make your decisions entirely based on age. If he was 33 or 34 and you were looking at having to resign him then maybe you make a move to get younger. But not when he's only going to have just turned 30 by the time the year starts.
Not to mention there is NOT a CB in this draft, no matter who you got, who will play better than Newman.
Everyone is so high on Plax, and what he does, tell me what he did to Dallas in the two games Newman played in?
I'll tell you. In New York his line was something like 4 catches for 27 yards and in the playoff game it was 1 catch for 5 yards.
1! Now the one game the Giants played Dallas without him...several catches for like 180 yards and 3 TDs.
What did he do to Harris, that so many morons are so high on against GB? He lit him up for a bunch of catches and yards.
So, please, take you're "We're getting Newman out of here" talk and go back to the playground.
