Great corners make you pay when you do go to their side.. Deon, Champ and now Asante. Sure they get burned time to time but they actually fight for the ball when it is in the air. I rather pay Asante 90 mil today than Newman 80 mil next year. Just one mans opinion.
Alot of people are beating you up on this one because they can't see through their blue and silver glasses, but I think you are dead on.
I think Jerry may be thinking this way and here's why........... Asante and Tnew are going to want very similar money. One is 3 years younger though. 3 years when you are signing someone to a longterm deal is HUGE !!!
Asante is 26 now, TNew is 29, You sign Asante to a 6 year deal, he is 32 when the contract is over. You sign TNew to a 6 year deal NEXT YEAR, and he is 36 when its over. How many corners you know in this league who are 36 years old? Its not feasable people.
Look here............ Sign Asante this year, he can play with Tnew for one year. Next year when Tnew is a FA, let him go. You get the advantage of letting them play together for one year, and they should dominate. After that, you still have one great corner. Asante. The guy you draft this year will be ready to step in full time after a year in the nickel.
Its just good business, and don't think the Jones's haven't thought of it.
