Disclaimer: THIS IS MY HONEST ATTEMPT TO OPEN REASONABLE DIALOGUE SO THAT I, AND OTHERS, CAN GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE “OTHER SIDE”.
———————
The eternal dichotomy of sports fandom… the haters and the homers.
One, blindly optimistic; one, unshakably critical. I most definitely fall into the latter category.
In saying this, I’d like to open the floor to the optimists (I won’t name names)! I’m hoping we can have a constructive conversation and hear each other out on things such as:
— Why do you dislike someone being critical of your favorite team and/or players of that team? Do you feel it’s disrespectful? Anti-fan?
— While watching games, how do you react when things go wrong? If Dak makes a terrible throw or has an untimely interception or Anthony Brown gets burned, what’s your internal and external reaction? Do you have negative thoughts or do you directly move on to the next play and hope for the best?
I’d really like to hear from you guys, on both sides. There is usually a strict divide on this and there’s lots of judgment tossed around (especially during games when tensions are high). But maybe we can gain some perspective and have rational discussion while emotions are stable.
Go Cowboys!
