Have we closed the gap on the Eagles?

Hard to say, Philly got on a roll last season and won it all. All I can say is Philly is the team to beat and I look forward to facing them.

On paper we should be better than last year in the o line and at the defensive back end.

Don’t forget we revamped the backend of our defense last year and then the rooks missed most training camp, esp auwuzie. The experience alone should help with this group. We were counting on Nolan Carroll last year.
Hopefully the kris Richard hype is real and actionable on the field.

The linebacker group comes down to health. Health as in how many games will lee play and how much improvement can we expect from jaylon.
Expecting LVE to step in day one and give us more than hitch is optimistic.
Now maybe by the end of the year and into the following years he should be an upgrade from hitchens.
The D line is deeper than last year but I’m not sure how that will play out.
Will Taco continue to show improvement?
Will we get 16 games from Irving and dlaw?
Is Brian Price healthy and ready?(Yes we missed him when he was injured)
That said and like others have mentioned, I don’t think the eagles are the class of the NFC and I don’t think they repeat

If our defense isn't much improved we're not beating that team. We need a defense to bring it, to challenge that offensive line and quarterback. Then we won't have to worry too much about their offensive advantage. We have an advantage at RB and OL. But their RB is pretty good too and their OL does the job. Wentz looks like the real deal and their WRs/TEs look to be really good too.

Dallas didn't win last year's SB with this crew of WRs so I really don't know how they'll compare to those that just did. I'm guessing advantage Eagles. I could be wrong. Either way, I'm thinking defense is key. Sean Lee needs to go to a crossroads somewhere in Texas and make a deal. In return for his soul he is injury free for the rest of his career. That's commitment!

Hopefully we have caught up some on defense.

They have a top 5 defense and potential MVP QB.

Our strengths remain only in OL and RB.

Just a little reminder, we sat here at this time last year in awe of the Giants defense. Their defense folded in 2017 like a cheap suit. A hang over from the Giants last playoff game in 2016 perhaps

Because their offense went completely inept. The defense eventually caved in on itself. Philly is too balanced for that to happen unless there is a bunch of injuries.

In order for us to "catch" Philly it's going to have be because we got better, not that they got worse IMO.

Zeke wasn't a strength last year. So unless he is the 2016 Zeke (same for the 2016 Dak).

Anyone that thinks Wentz isn't a really good QB simply just is blind. He was on pace to potentially be the league MVP before he got hurt.

He didn’t say that Wentz isn’t a good QB. Did he?

I don’t think the Eagles were ever the class of the NFC to begin with. I think we probably will compete with them all things being equal. Their defense is more than a little better than ours, though, and the offenses are comparable. Or were before we lost Dez and Witten. Neither game last year was a good barometer of how the two teams stack up.

The Giants, though, might have closed a lot of ground this offseason, too.
I think the Eagles caught lightning in a bottle last year. They made some nice moves in 2017 to address their depth concerns. I think we've done that this spring. Hope springs eternal

I don't know what we are right now.

I think the defense will be good and the offensive run game will be dominant but I just worry about the lack of big plays through the air.

We need to get lucky with Gallup, Noah Brown, or Rico Gathers.

And yet Wentz is less accurate than the hated Dak. But geeeee, he has a strong arm, so everyone overlooks that.

Stop it, just stop it. Wentz was light years better than Dak last season. Even the worst homers can see the difference in talent.

Yes, their offense was completely inept. Check out the scores in their games though. The defense certainly didn't compensate for their poor offensive showing. Heck our losses in 2015 when Romo went down were a heck of a lot less lop sided than the Giants losses last year and our defense sucks

lol. I am TALKING about accuracy, period. Go look at his career stats for accuracy compared to Dak's. And stop whining.

I think the Cowboys have a chance to catch up with Philly. It’s going to depend on several factors.

The health of Wentz is one of those factors.

The eagles also are going to have some turnover at cornerback and with their depth on the defensive and offensive lines, as well as tight end.

They also lost Legarrette Blount who was a beast for them last year. I know they have Ajayi. But can he carry the load without Blount?

The cowboys offensive line should be stronger than it was last year along with better depth. How will Dak play and how will the cowboys LB Corp improve?

It’s certainly possible the cowboys close the gap. Although the eagles coaching edge makes it tough.

We shall see.

Yes but you said it in the context of the effectiveness of the Eagles QB.

Fact is, Wentz is a really good QB and unless there is a set back with his recovery, he's going to be the Eagles QB this year, not Foles.
