We go to a game every weekend. High school, college or pro. If there is football being played we love to go and watch. The stadium experience can't be beat. Trying to count off the top of my head...I believe we went to 16 games last year. Best college game was K-St and Baylor. I predicted then Beebe would be a Cowboy. Best pro game was Thanksgiving watching Bland set the int record.
Football games are like rock shows IMO... once you're there at the venue and the show is playing, it's fun, but it's so time-consuming and expensive to get in and out of there, that it isn't worth the trouble.

College games aren't different than pro games in that regard. I'm a Texas A&M alum, and on game days, the traffic pile-up coming in from Houston would literally stretch 20 miles on Highway 6. High school games would be fun, but they definitely have a sell-by date once you're over 20 and don't have kids there.

Go to a concert, US Open, Masters, Indy 500 etc. All expensive so football is just more of the same.

That’s what priced out means in this context. I’m sure everyone on here can find 400-800 bucks if they have to.
I take priced out to mean it got too expensive for someone's liking. The cost being the primary reason. The flip side of the coin is the product being the primary reason. I would have paid for Sunday ticket 20 years ago. I no longer think that product is worth the price tag. Sort of like a used car not being worth what it was when it was new.

I’ve been lucky enough to go to Cowboys home games at all three stadiums in their storied history - the Cotton Bowl, Texas Stadium and AT&T Stadium. My Dad took me to my first Cowboys game in 1964 when I was only 6 years old. Eventually my Dad took my younger brother and me to games also over the years, and as a middle class family it was affordable. Those memories of going to Cowboys games were truly bonding experiences.

The 1964 game tickets my Dad had for the game at the Cotton Bowl were $6.00 each. So it was $12 for a father and son to sit on about the 25 yard line. That was then. The average single ticket price of going to a Cowboys game now is between $286 and $689 and that of course does not include parking and other items.

Trust me, I’m not here to say “everything was better in the good ol’ days.” Believe me they weren’t. I’m not against owners making big profits. But I am mystified by how much NFL ticket prices have gone up relative to everything else in society over the years. The experience I had with my Dad so many years ago seems harder and harder for the average person to experience.

The Cowboys have raised ticket prices approximately 20% since 2022. The cost of living/inflation has gone up but not at those percentages. I’m all for the free enterprise system but at what point does this become just a ridiculous level of pure greed?

So…I’m curious. How many of you have been priced out? I last attended a Cowboys game in 2018 and now that I am retired, I may have been priced out of ever going again. How many of you have attended games with your children and continue to do so?
I can't believe how much they are for same seats from last year for the Eagles game this year. I have to change seats.

As others have pointed out, the events are priced with the most expensive tickets inn the country. More than twice what top concerts go for and up there with any other event you can name.

The OP is kinda gauche asking that question.

A bunch of us from work(mixed giants/ cowboys fans sorry lol) planned on going last year and grabbing an Airbnb for a couple days to explore around too. Do the stadium tour and a few other things offered but eventually all but myself and another backed out due to the overall price. Between airfare, tickets, tours, airbnb you could have took a pretty damn nice vacation for a week. Granted we could have cut down the days and not done the tour and etc.

On the other had we go to the cowboys/giants game every year. Think we paid $125 for the tickets apiece to sit at the 50 yard line in the nosebleeds. Plus we get free parking once in awhile through work.

Couldn't have been more disappointed in the game day experience....everything is geared to screw you out of your money. You can't even walk around the stadium.....bombarded by high pressure sales people the minute you walk through the gates. And quite frankly....the stadium isn't nearly as luxurious as they make it seem on TV. That jumbotron is an abomination....taking away from the game.

I could spend 500k to go to a game if I wanted to. Realistically I'm ok with around 2 to 3 k with travel, hotel and a seat near the field.

I'm retired as well and I'll guarantee I've been priced out of going. Closest I've ever come was the wife and I took a tour of the old Texas stadium once.

I'm fortunate because I can afford to go to these games but I choose not to. I might pick a game during the season to go to but it won't be anymore Cowboys games.

I've been priced out of all sporting events for many years, except for rodeos and HS football. When a ticket goes for the cost of a five weight calf, I'm out.

I’ll go once a year with friends for the tailgate more than anything. The actual watching of the game is so much better on TV.

High pressure sales people? I've never seen anything like that. Anyone else ever see this?

I'm originally from Canada and live in the northern US now.

- I made a game or two at Texas Stadium, I think one was a preseason game against the Texans.
- Saw a famous Monday night game in Buffalo, I think in 2007, where there was a timeout and we had to kick back to back 50 yd fg's for a win.
- Saw a Jets-Cowboys game at MetLife stadium back in 2011
- And a big one mentioned below

Like others have mentioned it costs a lot to go, way more if you have to fly in, but I figured I had to do a Thanksgiving game at least once. It's has to be up there on the list of Cowboy fan experiences. I tied it into a trip to see the wife's family near New Braunfels. So I bought three tickets around the 50 yard line, about $350-400 each. Paid for a tailgate party, all you can eat and drink pregame. Parking, concessions during the game, spent some money at the gift shop etc. We bought flights etc. Expensive trip

Was so excited to go, great seats.... It was Thanksgiving..... Thursday, November 26th 2015. I watched Tony Romo throw three picks, Thomas Davis destroyed Tony's collarbone and Dallas lost in a 33-14 blowout. Tony never started again...

If I want to go to any game I will. Issue is I love sitting down in front of the TV with plenty of food available and my iPad in hand. I have done NYR and Knicks playoff games past couple weeks because I think the MSG fervor is historic now and it’s fun but going to the live games has worn thin with me. The corporate nature of it all bothers the crap out of me. The fan experience pretty much sucks. Pay the crazy price, buy the expensive beers, and behold the sucking sound. I actually hate it. Plus the ticketing process is so ridiculous same with concerts. Don’t even get me started on the Taylor Swift crap from last summer. My daughters were able to go but man it was annoying.

My 2 carve outs are minor league baseball and college basketball. I absolutely love going to HV Renegades games. Great times always. My younger daughter’s college basketball teams were good this year so we really enjoyed that. Followed them to their tournaments and had a blast.

Great post Bob. How much more cost can these pro teams pass on to the fans?

I am blessed to be able to afford it, but I don't go. I watch the games in the most comfortable place, my living room. I have pizza, chips and dip, beer and anything I could want including a recliner and couch. I'll pass on the crowds, waiting in line, overpriced food that's half rate, and uncomfortable seating around noxious football fans. Sometimes I go to the sports bar when cowboys play the Eagles, but that's only twice a year because all the sports bars around here only show Eagles games.

The NFL is in the process of pricing nearly everyone out of even viewing NFL games unless you want 30 different paid subscriptions to various streaming platforms. Hope you can create enough strong passwords, manage them all, and hopefully none of those clients gets hacked on the company's end so your data gets stolen which will always be a metaphorical Sword of Damocles hanging over your head.

I am more than happy to give my hard earned dollars to the fuhrer and son to watch a "competitive" game in person. I love the $75 pizza, the $25 beer, and of course the amazing artwork that Gene Jones (of Gene Jones Jeans) has peppered throughout the stadium. It's every fans responsibility to help the fuhrer be more profitable so ask yourself, would you rather mk a deep playoff run or be the most profitable franchise?
