On the down hill slide and Dallas does not need to waste the money for guys like this. I respect the career of Taylor but Dallas has been through this before with the signing of once good players who are past their prime.

Even if he were a UFA, I wouldn't want him. Do not pay for age. Didn't we learn our lesson with Old Man Rivera?

What would we do with Taylor? Convert him to OLB?

I would like to try our best to keep the guys we have and I think that in its self is going to be tough.

That would be back up OLB behind Ware and Spencer. Even behind Ellis.

Exactly. It's just too late in his career to go changing his position to try and fit. It was different with Ellis. We had him under contract and didn't have to give up anything and THEN change his position. Just can't see us doing this.

Not that I necessarily want Taylor, but he has been playing standup OLB/DE hybrid in Miami for a couple seasons now so it would not be a position switch for him.

Miami runs alot of 3-4.

Yeah, he would probably be a better 34 OLB than 43 DE. And I bet he'd be somewhat rejuvenated going to a winning team.

But the deadline has passed, so it's all a moot point anyway.

Unless they want to cut him. :D

Sometimes older players get a new life going to a winning team just like Junior Seau in NE, etc. It's hard to know how much Taylor has left because Miami is becoming another Cards-type of team--meaning they lose incentive cause their team is so bad. I think playing for a good team might really help him. Just wait, NE will sign him in the offseason if Miami willing to let him go or trade him for a pick. OTOH, I just can't see which position he could play on our defense.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'd bet my grandma's life savings he'll be a Patriot next year. Probably Zach Thomas too!

You'd put him at OLB opposite Ware and tell him to go get the ball. Sorry, Greg, you'll have to hit the bench and Spencer, you'll have a wait a year or two to play much.

Can you imagine last year's DPOY and Ware rushing QBs at the same time? Wow.

It obviously isn't happening, but it's fun to think about.

Fixed....and giggity.

Taylor is such a terror, and is athletic enough to play from any spot on the field. If the possibility arises, definitely you can find a spot for a guy like that to get on the field. Spencer is the future, but there is little chance that he is ever as good as Jason Taylor.

I know the article is about after the season.

Is it too late to somehow get him now?

Could he help?

What would he cost?

The guy is still productive. Look at Seau in NE.

The guy is a great pass rusher, but I don't think he could make the same transistion that Ellis did at this point in his career. I'm not sure if he has lost a step this year, or he doesn't have the same level of competent pass rush on the other side to help free him up.

Isn't that what some folks had been saying about Randy Moss the last few seasons?

though...yeah, this guy isn't getting younger

Is it just me or is this exactly the kind of guy NE goes and gets...

Once again, no transition necessary.
