Henson Era Over!

...when your out rock hunting for the right rock to polish up for your collection and you mistakenly pick up a chunk of dog poo, you discard it.

But what if you pick up the rock and put in your bag and never look at it again?

Well, wherever he ends up...good luck to him. He never had a chance here...

Yeah thats about the size of it... there was hope(for Henson) and then there was none...

So what are we doing for a #3 QB? I hope they arent just going to go with Bledsoe and Romo.

Hoping to accumulate draft picks to package for next year? Doesn't seem real likely since they already showed their hand with Henson and won't get even a low rounder for him now.

well, we just got a 4th rounder (!!!!) for Shanle.

so we may get something out of this yet.

I'm sure we'll get a 1st or 2nd for Henson. ;)

Well, it doesn't sound like one is tied to the other. BP said that Henson will not be on our roster this year. That would seem to indicate that the decision would not be impacted by Romo's situation regardless. I think it's more likely a trade or like a previous poster mentioned, a negotiated release.

A trade makes the most sense. There doesn't seem to be too many moving parts to a negotiated release.

If we move Henson, I'd like to see us with more than a current-year deal on our backup/QB of the future.

I'm sad today.

I remember when they traded for Henson...I thought that we really made a great deal and although I didn't think he would start for a few years I thought that one day he would be our next Aikman.

I remember reading that story about Jones and Parcells taking Henson out to the steakhouse and how Parcells and Henson talked...It all seemed so right.

I'd love to hear exactly what some people think a QB who cannot even make it as your backup will fetch in trade.

There was no contract situation. No controversy. He just didn't get the job done.

So what exactly does a player like that have in terms of marketability?

I am intrigued to see what some think.

This is not a flame of this poster, but I am curious what Green Bay gave to get Favre. Was Favre the backup, or was he a third string QB at the time he was traded?

Where is my signature crew??? I know I enlisted about atleast 4 members back in May.

There dues will be needed shortly:lmao:

And not a lot of point to keeping it secret.

If they were just cutting him, why not say it?

He was a 3rd string QB in Atlanta.

Kind of defeats the no good 3rd string QB theories.

If I recall correctly, he was drafted by Atlanta in the 2nd round, and traded to GB for a 1st.

What? You don't think egos are involved?

Saints are for churches. Not for the football field.

I don't know ....

I don't know if Farve was #2 or #3 on the Falcons depth chart, but he was drafted with the #2 or #3 pick in the 2nd round the year before and was the first or 2nd QB off the boards. Its not like atlanta made him #3 because they were giving up on him. And i believe that the Pack traded a #2 for him.

He was a 3rd stringer because he was a rookie. He was drafted really high.

Plus, Favre played only football. He wasn't coming in 3 years after playing another professional sport.

The Favre/Henson comparisons are an apples/oranges thing.
