Every disinterested observer at training camp noted that the distance between Romo and Henson is like the distance between the Earth and the Moon. Doesn't mean Romo is great or the answer, but he's still miles ahead of his understudy.

I dunno...I think I'd rather talk to interested observers...

Ya know, Romo hasn't played in a long time...that could be a problem..and ya know, his interest in golf concerns me...I mean how can a guy be that interested in another sport? Seems to me that if he wants to be a QB, that should be the only sport he's interested in.

Trading for Harrington...:puke:

I really can't understand why people would be against trading a low round draft pick for a QB with NFL experience and some skins already on the wall to be the backup QB. At this point in their careers JH >>>>TR or DH. If we have the potential to make a run at the SB I would much rather have an experienced QB coming in over one that has virtually no live action experience. Its not like he is being brought in to be the starter. Also, considering the failure rate of 6th/7th rd picks are much higher than the success rate, it would be worth the investment.

Jones does not in anyway want to immediately sign Harrington, even as a backup since the move would cut the developing legs out from under Henson in Europe. Or possibly even backup Tony Romo, since there is a feeling within the organization that the Cowboys might have something special in him, even though the three-year veteran has done nothing more than take a knee twice in regular-season games during his career.
In fact, there are some who think Romo, if handled properly, could develop into the team's future starting quarterback if the Cowboys can remain patient with the development of the undrafted player out of Eastern Illinois. Sort of like their version of Jake Delhomme, who stepped up to prominence after signing a free-agent deal with Carolina after all those years in New Orleans.

Perhaps this excerpt from Mickey's latest article offers a clue.

Have a seat Romo bashers/Henson lovers.

I think they will both be here and will have a very tight competition for the #2 job. I don't know who wins it but they will both be here.

UNLESS...Sean Payton offers us something sweet for Romo which could happen but I'm not banking on it.

Because those skins all have a big "L" branded on them; Harrington sucks and his experience hasn't changed that. We already have players who are at the very worst as good as Harrington and a at best much MUCH better.

And how exactly do you know this considering between the two of them they have about a total of 1 game of experience??? Harrington has at least won in the NFL - 17 times. Do I want him to be the starter and future at the QB position - No. but I wouldn't mind him as purely a backup.

In case you havent noticed look around. Most people who like henson also hope for Romo to succeed. Its the other side that thinks that because they Like Romo they must bash Henson. See Some of us support the Dallas Cowboys and hope all their players turn out good. Others like to choose one Qb and bash the other at every stop

I really doubt that we'll end up the benefactor of the Harrington sweepstakes. But if I had to choose I'd cut Romo. He's the guy that we kept to be a backup, I have more faith in Henson as a developmental QB.

Even though I personally like Henson I think that there's something the club truly likes about Romo, not to mention that he's younger, and they'll find a way to keep him around should we bring in Joey.

unlike drew henson - whose passion to be an NFL QB began shortly after realizing he couldn't cut it in Major League Baseball. :p:

Its a leftover Norsitess disease......

It sure spread on this board.

From a business standpoint it makes more sense to keep Henson, signed to a long term low cost contract vs Tony being a FA after this season.

From a talent point of view...Well Henson was better in 2004 (TC and pre-season) and Romo was better in 2005 (TC and pre-season). Funny thing is that both QB's suffered the year that the teams worked on their delivery in the Spring. Henson will PROBABLY have a heads up this (TC and pre-season) because he is actually playing in games this Spring.

From a physical point of veiw Henson has a stronger arm and is the more typicle tall QB...6'4" vs 6'1".

The coach's and Jones will make their decision. As stated before that in the case of a tie in the choice, Jerry owns the tiebreaker. Henson, having the bigger name and would make more of a splash and headlines as the future QB of the Cowboys would pretty much be the type of player Jerry likes...and since he owns the tiebreaker....My take, Henson stays.

Whichever QB performs better in training camp/preseason will remain on the team. It's that simple, IMO.

Henson stays, Romo goes.

Henson, at the beginning of training camp will have more recent experience than Romo and against better competition in the NFLE than Romo did in his college career.

Romo has been our creation.

I often wonder how fans of other teams must laugh their behinds off watching us passionately argue about an undrafted, third string QB, who's never thrown an NFL pass.

Or arguing about our third baseball player.:D Even one with eight games in college.:bang2:

If the cowboys Trade for Harrington, Which QB do you think will remain on the team? Explain why you think one or the other will stay.

I believe Henson will remain a cowboy for several reasons:

1. We have more invested in him at this time i.e. 3rd rd draft pick more $.
2. I think there is more upside to Henson i.e., more athletically gifted, stronger arm etc. I do not see Romo as anything more than a career backup.
3. There is a market for trading Romo possibly Sean payton in NO
4. I don't think JJ wants to give up on him yet for his own ego. As a GM it would fair very badly to have bombed out on 3 baseball players turned QB in 4 years.

I agree with YOU.....

I'd rather a player go from another sport to football than from football to another sport.

While Romo is putting around, Henson is playing football.

Oh, I dunno about that...I can see having a discussion about a guy who came from a major college program and who, by all accounts would have been a top five pick, in many cases seen as the first pick overall vs a guy from a small college who went undrafted....world of difference.

Henson will never make it in the NFL as a starter. I dont even think he'll be a solid backup. Tony Romo is my choice. Without a doubt.

FOUR !!!

Actually I haven't heard much about Romo and golf this Spring, nothing like last year.

The only thing we really hear about Romo this Spring is from the message boards. Do you think Romo is reading the papers and watching Henson in NFLE and thinking he made a mistake by not getting valuable playing time too ?

I think Tony will downplay golf this year and skip some of the tournaments he played in last year.

I'm sure if the FO and BP continue to read about Henson 70% completion percentage and 100+ QB rating, it will not look good if the article next to that says Tony shot a 72 in some Texas tournament.

Tony has 1 year left here to prove he can be the QB of the future here. Playing golf will not help him in the least.
