Here are the front-runners to land Romo in NFL's QB shuffle

Romo is better than Alex Smith but he's almost 5 years older and he can't stay healthy, plus he has a big contract. He also has the same 2-4 playoff record as Smith. Alex Smith is a bus driver who isn't nearly as productive as Romo but he's more mobile and a very good runner. He doesn't turn the ball over near as much as Romo. Smith had a pretty solid, efficient season leading the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and I just don't see them thinking Romo is the QB to get them over the hump when he hasn't gotten some Cowboys teams that were better than KC over the hump. Going with a QB that will certainly be more productive but will turn the ball over a lot more and can't use his legs to scramble isn't going to be the answer.

I'm sure Tony would have appreciated the KC defense during his playoff appearances.

It's not the monetary investment in Lynch, it's the draft picks they invested in him and bringing in Romo for a couple of years to start would severely stunt his development as well as Siemian's. Romo isn't likely to last a full season anyway, so when he goes down he may end up in the same boat as this season stuck on the bench because either Lynch or Siemian is playing well. If Romo misses any games next season due to injury, it's going to be a one season and done in Denver.

You simply can't be looking at a 2 year stint with Romo with 2 young QBs stuck behind him that need playing time. I'm not saying Romo won't end up in Denver or anywhere else, anything is possible but I don't think that would be a good situation for him or the Broncos. A team like AZ that has nothing behind Palmer if he retires or is let go would be an ideal situation for Romo. They could go with him as long as he holds up.

I don't think the picks mean as much as the money if you're John Elway. The opportunity to get another Super Bowl title before the defense's window closes would be the draw. You let Romo mentor the two young quarterbacks so hopefully one will be ready to step in when he steps down.

Romo is a rental for whatever team he goes to, and I think the Broncos have reason to rent. I agree, though, that they also have reason not to and Arizona would be a more ideal fit.

with Romo's injury history, his contract, the lack of superbowl ready defenses/teams that need a qb.
this is starting to feel impossible. we are gonna have to release Tony or take a low draft pick or he will retire. none of which sound good to me.

Anyone showing interest already is setting themselves up for a very high draft pick, but teams are just too desperate and QB is the premiere landing spot for most teams. Jerry knows this and thus will say what he has to say to make Romo's offer go sky high. Jerry knew what he was doing by playing Romo just one series prior to the playoffs, now all teams see are high octane plays initiated by Tony Romo.

IMO, he'll be traded for possibly a first round pick, which would be a fine selling job by Jerry Jones.

2nd round pick and then another mid round pick that can potentially end up as a 3rd or 2nd based on games played?

Sign me up. It's a no brainer.

Good negotiators will downplay their interest.
*Tells everyone who's listening*
"We would love to trade for a top 10 QB. Simply can't wait for the Cowboys to call so we can give them exactly what they want."

Do people honestly expect this to be said by any team whether it's true or not? Nobody is going to show their cards because in the end, each team wants the best deal they can get even if they want him.

2nd and potentially a high conditional pick? Yes please
Guys just think what we could get with two 2nd rounders. We could get paraplegic with one and a TE that will never play with the other. Or maybe a mentally ill, paraplegic, TE with a drug problem.

Yeah let's keep Jerry away from the 2nd round.

We could really upgrade the team and defense with an extra second round pick this year, supposing we don't blow them on druggies or injuries like we usually do with our second round picks.
I have a feeling our extra second would almost assuredly be used to take jake butt. He's a TE AND has a major knee injury. Total lock for us.

Ohh yes please I love nothing more then drafting a TE....... lol

The Texans and Broncos don't seem to be interested and I can't see KC dumping Alex Smith for Romo after he just led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and has the same 2-4 playoff record as Romo.
Or maybe they'll make a play for Sanchez, who's 4-2 in the playoffs. But seriously...

The Chiefs would have only Romo's health to consider, and that's a huge consideration. But Tony vs. Alex is no contest.

15+ yards in air, career
Romo 368 of 782 10,947 yd 13.9 ypa 98 td 39 int 111.4
Smith 257 of 616 7,233 yd 11.7 ypa 39 td 31 int 85.9

Denver waiting for Lynch to mature = E Sanders, D Thomas, A Talib, C Harris, and V Miller all being 30+. Now is the time for them. Waiting would be penny wise and pound foolish.

Draft positions for named teams...

Buffalo - R2 43 / R3 76 / R4 No Pick
Arizona - RD2 45 / R3 77 / R4 118
Denver - R2 50 / R3 83, 97*, 101* / R4 125, 145
Houston - R2 57 / R3 89 / R4 129
Kansas City - R2 59 / R3 91, 104* / R4 131

* = projected comp pick

Seems plausible for the NYJ to jump in as well - RD2 39 / R3 70 / R4 136

If an NFC team like Arizona wants him, I'd want their R1. Maybe a swap of first rounders R1 13 for R1 28 + Romo. Then you're talking about possibly being able to jump up for Garrett or Allen.

I never bought the theory the team has to release him. They don't have to do anything and if just two teams are interested you have a market for trade. If there is no market (highly unlikely) you keep him. What Romo wants is irrelevant.

I'm expecting several 1s and 2s, a bunch of players and straight cash, homie.

I think it'd be crazy to give up a 2nd for Romo, but I'd take it in a heartbeat. If he stays healthy he may have two years left, but desperate teams do desperate things when it comes to QB.

if a bidding war happens between 4 teams then who knows what our haul could be.

Zona is interesting, but I don't think Jerry will do it. They will become instant favorites, especially with Arians and Romo together. The one issue I do see is Arians loves the long ball and that might get Romo killed, especially having to play Seattle twice a year.

I've said it all along but IMO Houston makes the most sense for Romo and his family. Still close to home, AFC, great defense, nice skill players, and most importantly a winnable division and easy route to playoffs.
