Just read this thread and had to sift through >50% garbage posts... how did this turn into an Romo vs. Alex Smith stat argument??

Anyway, here's what we know -
1) Romo is not retiring per http://dal.247sports.com/Bolt/Report-Tony-Romo-has-no-plans-to-retire-in-2017-51120360, http://www.si.com/nfl/2017/02/05/dallas-cowboys-tony-romo-retirement-news-rumors, among many other sources.

2) Romo wants to go to a contending team, and luckily for him most of his suitors are contending teams.

3) The front runners in the Romo lottery are currently - KC, BUF, DEN, AZ, and HOU. The first two are very likely to put forth a trade...the latter three probably not, but who knows? Things can change.

I've extensively researched fan forums for KC and BUF regarding this situation. Reaction seems mixed in KC but the majority of BUF fans want Romo as their QB (some even claim it'll out them "over the top" whatever that means...) and would not mind trading a couple draft picks for him.

Let the bidding begin. I think all of this talk about how we aren't going to get anything for Romo is dead wrong. It has been a long time since a QB of his caliber has been available on the trade market.

Don't be surprised when a bidding war comes.

I suppose you prefer Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson. The roster is 53, not 1.

No, naif of wholesome repute. I dwell within the memories of Meredith, Staubach and Aikman. And, yes, the lower tiers of Romo, White and Morton. All had their glory days but the first three brought us riches within several years.
So, after 11 years of the Romo experiment, maybe it is time to let it go. Or let him go, gentle old fellow.

So will the Bears (Romo's home team growing up) because Jay Cutler will definitely be cut.
Romo grew up in Wisconsin and was born in California... Green Bay was more his home team, or at least favorite team. He went to college in Eastern Illinois, not far from Chicago. But it does look like Chicago is a bit closer than Green Bay. Never realized that!

Romo will be responsible for putting us over the top and will be responsible for putting the team he go's to in a position to go far.

We will be able to add a FA thanks to the cap savings we get for trading him.
and we will get multiple players as a result of the draft picks we get for trading him.

I am envisioning at least 3 key players will added thanks to us having a backup QB that other teams desire.
