Totally agree. Finally, we will see an aggressive and scheme-changing Defense that will put pressure on opposing Offenses. That should make life easier on our Secondary.

Question: Which one of our LBs is our Sam LB?
the guy whose jersey isnt 55 or 54. thats why we need one

Looks like a fluff say nothing piece.

“Bill Belichick is so great, that’s what makes me excited for McCarthy” honestly I don’t even see fluff

Nolan makes him excited because he wants the better player and he’ll scheme against offenses? This is almost nonsensically.... nothing

The middle rounds sounds like a good place to grab a nice Sam LB.

Even though I seen him listed as a MLB, but Malik Harrison from Ohio State in the 2nd round makes sense. He can rush the passer if they use him right, which I believe they would.

Chaisson or a CB in the 1st, Harrison in the 2nd.

Isn't the Sam (strong) DE spot the side that lines up to where the opposing Offense's TE usually lines up, thus showing where they mostly run to, which is the opposing Offense's right side where our Left DE lines up (which is D-Law)?
DLaw could play that position but so could Gregory and Jelks. And I'm pretty sure there are some free agents out there that can step in and help. Just saying, because I don't want our first round draft pick to be a freaking backup.

Is he saying he wants us to use a Leo?

Good luck, those players are rare, and really not that good anyways.

A SAM is a strong side linebacker. Is he saying he wants a strong side linebacker rushing the passer. Or a pass rusher to play SAM on running downs?

Should we be concerned that the two SAM rushers that he named are currently suspended?
Oh my..

So he is living in the future on this topic?

I guess it means no DL at 17.

Helpful if you believe in smokescreens.

:omg:

I don't think we're switching to the 3-4 defense. I think they're just talking about a pass rush specialist. If they are talking about a pass rush specialist then that's not a starting position.
They'd start here. They'd be off ball some and down others.
They'd be the SAM LB in a 4-3 and play on first downs as well as a 3-4OLB on the line.

Both guys can cover small areas, rush the passer and play the run.

Looking at film on LB Malik Harrison, he's very good at taking on pulling Olinemen and stuffing the run at the line of scrimmage when he makes the right decision. Harrison is also good at pursuit to the edge. What he struggles with is on pass coverage which is why taking him in the 2nd round might be too high. Likely a 3rd or 4th round prospect.

Some teams don't even have a fullback and three wide sets have pretty much become the norm in the NFL. So it's still a part time position. Spending a first round pick on a part-timer sounds kind of Bobby Carpenter-ish to me.
