DLaw could play that position but so could Gregory and Jelks. And I'm pretty sure there are some free agents out there that can step in and help. Just saying, because I don't want our first round draft pick to be a freaking backup.
Oh, get ready to be disappointed.

“Bill Belichick is so great, that’s what makes me excited for McCarthy” honestly I don’t even see fluff

Nolan makes him excited because he wants the better player and he’ll scheme against offenses? This is almost nonsensically.... nothing

He wants his defense to WORK! What innovation!

The 1st round pick can't be as bad as last year's bust Trysten Hill, can it?

Sounds to me like they are counting on Aldon and Randy to be reinstated.

Expect the league to delay as long as possible without litigation, or rather, the resolution deadline of the litigation!✊

Isn’t this the same guy that stood by Rod Marinelli and his horrible drafting of players to fit his scheme for years while we wasted offensive talent on cheap rookie contracts?? There’s a reason we haven’t won consistently since Jimmy Johnson left... you have an owner who wants to add talent, but in his old age is only interested in “winning the deal” instead of using logic and reason,.. especially when you trade a 1st round pick for a top receiver but don’t immediately resign him to a new deal at what would have been a cheaper price,... or going to Dak early on when you decided he was your franchise quarterback and enticing him with some long term security at again,.. a lower than current market contract.
The Jones’ way of doing business gets us exactly what we have been for the past 10 years- mediocre at best. Stephen only knows how to manage the cap, Jerry only knows how to market his team and the NFL- neither of them have figured out the formula to consistent winning football.

I am going to humbly disagree. There are a few important things you can take from it.

First, we are going with multiple fronts and adjust to the offense we are playing, which is a HUGE difference from what we did with Rod, who believed in the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. In other words, our defense was simple and the same year after year so our players did less thinking and more playing. It works well in High School, but I think it's too simplistic for the modern NFL. Basically just relied on talent.

Second, our Sam backer is also going to be a Designated Pass Rusher. Like a Clay Matthews type of Sam. HUGE difference from the Rod system which used the Sam as an afterthought.

It actually makes a lot of sense out of our video visits.

Pretty sure we heard a lot of the same garbage when Rob Ryan came on board. Nolan has a long track record in the NFL. It isn't great.

Just as I suspected. Looks like K'Lavon Chasson or any DE will not be targeted in the early rounds of this upcoming draft.

It hinted at the opposite actually. A flexible DE like Chaisson is EXACTLY the type of player they are looking for. He could play DE in the 4-3, play outside linebacker in a 3-4, rush the passer, good against the run, standup pass rusher, DE with his hands on the ground, ect…...ect…...

So you're telling me it took Dallas this long to realize the mantra of "just beat the person in front of you" doesn't work in this day and age and that defense actually wins championships? Shocking

Jones and co have always cared about the offense side of the ball. Let's have an outstanding offense that scores lots of points cause it looks flashy but were just have a mediocre to horrible defense cause who cares

I actually very much disagree. Getting a guy like Chaisson, Baun, Weaver, are actually more important. The SAM/DRE is pretty important in this defense and all those guys could do it. But, dont think of a conventional RDE.

I think Gregory could play it, but I think Smith is too big now. I think he could challenge Crawford for one of the DE spots.

Totally agree. Finally, we will see an aggressive and scheme-changing Defense that will put pressure on opposing Offenses. That should make life easier on our Secondary.

Question: Which one of our LBs is our Sam LB?

Wait...…...you agree? 180

Flexibility, I heard that nonsense for years with the last guy(Rod) running the defense.....we need some beef in the middle that can get a consistant push or demand a double team to keep the linebackers free with an attacking defense, not a bend don't break philosophy.........didn't get that from the last guy(Rod) so I don't want to hear that flexibility thing now.....

We didn't hear bout flexibility of scheme we heard that they wanted players that could be do different things like play DT or DE or linebackers that could stop the run or drop back into coverage.

I don't think we're switching to the 3-4 defense. I think they're just talking about a pass rush specialist. If they are talking about a pass rush specialist then that's not a starting position.

I think they want to able to use both the 4-3 and switch up to the 3-4 looks to confuse.

Where did Stephen hint at wanting to pick Chaisson? By him bringing up both Aldon Smith and Randy Gregory, it undoubtedly means the Cowboys are happy with what they've got at DE and are looking forward to seeing them perform on the field for Mike Nolan's new defense.

The hint that you get is that front 7 and flexibility, Dline is very important to this scheme.

How you read that and came away that DE was no way a high pick is a mystery. Some people just see what they want to see. And if you notice, there are several others that disagree with that post of yours. Then a few posts later you actually agree with a guy that disagreed with your post. So its a little confusing to say the least.
