Why would anyone compare Amendola to Beriault?

There's only one reason I can think of, and it's a very stupid reason.

get off the size thing already.....sometimes coaches can be their worst enemy. Instead of going after a football player, they go after this protypical image, and tend to find a lot of busts along the way.

Chrebet, Moss, Moss, Steve Smith, Welker...the list goes on and on about midgets who can play WR and be successful.

For me, I put my money on a guy who busts his butt, shows all the instincts, and just gets the job done everywhere he has been....HS, College, etc...His size isn't going to keep him off my team, if he can show he is a producer.

Since when is 5' 10" a "midget" for a WR?

IHe's already exceeded my expectations just by showing life on the field.

I expected him to show "life" on the field. I dont know why anyone would be suprised.

I like this kid and think he could have a real shot at a roster spot. I'd like to see a 3-way fight for the #3 WR position between Hurd, Austin, & Amendola.

I dont think he will have to fight for a spot against those guys. He will be a slot/under the middle specialist.

The only way he makes this roster is if the Cowboys keep six receivers. If not, he will be assigned to the practice squad and then probably picked up by another team. TO and Crayton are the starters, and I highly doubt he is going to beat out Hurd, Austin, or Stanback.

Well, it's either six receivers on the roster or Austin or him go to the practice squad. Austin will hit the practice squad before Stanback will. Stanback is like Pacman with the ball in his hands. I (and I'm sure they) will take that over pure speed.

I can think of a number of reasons to compare to Beriault. Namely, both are guys who came in under the radar with little chance to make the team, but because of their energy and work-ethic, are making names for themselves in TC.

For the first time in maybe 7 years, you can make the argument that there is real competition at the wide receiver position from #2 to #5. If you take for granted that Terrell and Crayton are your #1 and #2 receivers, Amendola could fall anywhere between #3 and off the roster.

If he does make the team, he has to play special teams.

More like #4 to #6, Hurd would be #3 right now. he has the experience over the other's. Could even say #5 or #6, since he has NO NFL games.
He's the story of TC, there is always a story of TC. Let's just sit back and hope for the best. And yes, the 1st time in many years we have some competition at WR for some depth.

Beriault actually made the team though, IIRC he sat on IR for a year then had to retire due to injuries. So i'm really not sure why he would use that comparison

Because of what I said in my previous post. Beriault also played on the other side of the ball, but that doesn't mean comparisons can't be drawn between the two.

Again, where is your beef with the Amendola-Welker comparisons? I'm pretty sure Welker made the team too. :LOL

I wish I could actually see him play a few games before we start saying we want him doing this or that. Training camp means nothing, I want to see him play and then I can give a true assessment.

I don't believe Austin can go to the practice squad. He's been in the league too many years.......but as usual I could be wrong.
