Not at all. Let's not turn this into a religion vs science debate.

Especially since they didn't even find the Higgs. They found something "similar". But like I said, just last year they reported nearly identical findings only to overturn it shortly later and say it was basically just a computer glitch.

there are 6 bosons, two haven't been discovered yet(higgs and gravitron), as for scalars all I know is that I don't totally understand what they do lol:eek::

That's the tricky one.

At least with Higgs, we had indications of its existence through radioactive decay. We have yet to even observe gravity operating at the quantum level. It's become such a thorn in science's side that some scientists have taken to denying the existence of gravity altogether.

astronomy will help out with it, they believe they will be able to see gravitational waves soon. They found a star wondering too close to a black hole and get ripped apart and they are watching a space cloud that is about to go into a the black hole in our galaxy and they believe seeing these events may allow them to see some form of gravity that they haven't seen before among other things

Wow! Life is complete. I can die now.

No. The gravatron has yet to be discovered. ...that is if you believe in the Standard Model. :laugh2:

How about String Theory? Or maybe the more advanced version of string theory, M-Theory? :lmao2:

It's all SEXY! Gotta love Physics! :)

I've got your two bosons that haven't been discovered. They are hanging between my ... Damnit! I'm definitely going to have to learn to control myself considering my futures plans. :laugh2:

yeah I love the stuff, most goes way over my comprehension but I find it fascinating what they know. Like I just found out that they have proved quantum coupling which means that the whole twins feeling each others pain or knowing what the other is feeling is totally possible

can't edit this but I realize I said astronomy and really I mean astrophysicists

Translation for someone who doesn't know anything about this type of stuff?

What do they think they found? What does it mean if they found it?

In layman's terms: The Higgs Boson is a fundamental particle (made of nothing) that works as a glue to hold mass together. Without it, every atom in our bodies, along with everything in the universe, would disassemble at the speed of light and fly apart into oblivion.

Understanding how the Higgs Boson particle works will bring us to an understanding of what happened within a fraction of a second after The Big Bang - the very beginning of time and space.

There is a ten-billion dollar Collider Detector with a four mile circular tunnel underground at Fermilab in Batavia, IL that is solely devoted to this study, with 500 collaborators from 20 countries, representing 100 universities and institutions, experimenting 24 hours a day.

Actually the Higgs boson has its associated Higgs field which is everywhere in the universe. Some particles pass thru the field relatively unaffected while others are slowed and can congregate. Thru the Higgs mechanism which is not understood the Higgs boson causes particles to have mass. The Higgs boson thru quantum mechanics pops into existence and causes its effects then decays extremely quickly.

Has anyone else ever wondered what the "big bang" exploded out of? I mean, it had to have been in something else first right?

This will always perplex me. Our universe could be a small part of a larger one or multi other universes.

Perhaps thru a black hole into a new universe as a 'white hole'. We don't know but it's possible it came from 'nothing' just like a particle can appear spontaneously.

So did the world explode yet? :D
No, not the whole world, Yeag. I just checked. But a maverick "god particle" may have been the reason that three barges worth of fireworks exploded in San Diego Bay's "Big Bay Boom" fiasco last night. That's the rumor being floated, anyhow, by show producer Garden State Fireworks, the company blamed for the malfunction.

A "glitch or virus in the computer firing system," indeed. :laugh2:

Yeah the Fred soon to be no longer working for this company virus :laugh1:
