This is a huge year. We've seen what happens ( 08, 10, 14) after this team succeeds. In other words, they've shown to underachie when expectations are present.
More like Romo gets hurt.

Question is if Dak will prove to be more durable. I think he will.

Well I bet they're not over there in Green Bay saying they are better. Plus I actually believe we were closer than Green Bay to getting to the SB. They actually had a pretty old team.

I love how everyone that is saying that we will be better acts as though it's a foregone conclusion that we will have a great draft.
This draft is so deep it would be hard for us to screw it up.

I honestly don't know what Packer fans are saying. I used them as an example because they're a team well known for building via the home-grown talent method.

And while I haven't suggested we'll necessarily be better next year, I do think it's more likely than not we'll have a good draft based on our recent history here. That's not exactly a reach at this point.

Actually they usually take risks to push them over the top in those situations.
Signing guys like Pac Man and Hardy aint complacency.

Your first mistake was listening to JJT. That hot take is revisionist history.
The major reason we took steps back after good seasons in 07,09 and 14?

Lack of health at the QB situation. Good chance we make the playoffs if Romo doesn't get hurt the season after.

I think some of us still think we are in the Lacewell era.

I wouldn't mind that either, Roy, assuming our CB/SS is a hit and there's a legit 4-3 end in the 2018 FA.

Yep, would have been nice to get one this year. One of those Arizona DL. Could have shored up both spots right here.

Be careful bringing truth like that in here. It spoils some of the rants.

The NFC East has lost Bennie Logan, Chris Baker and Jonathan Hankins. The Dallas Cowboys are in the NFC East. They were replaced by no one, some guy named Stacy and no one. Not sure what they're seeing but Zeke is drooling.

Hankins is still unsigned. And still talking to NYG. Maybe he leaves, maybe he doesn't. So no drooling over that one -- yet.

13-3 is not cream of the crop?

13-3 was built on beating a lot of teams with more problems than us and a few good ones. When it comes to the playoffs, we're not at the level where we are having much success.

Those are risk, but not smart moves. This wasn't JJT it was Clarence Hill the biggest cowboy homer.

He was exactly right on all accounts, and each year we failed miserably.

Remind me what free agent signings they made last year to improve to 13-3.

They would have had similar success to last year's if Romo had not been injured in 2015. Evidence for that is the team's record with Romo that year compared to the other QBs. So by building the line and incorporating a running game, the team is able to make it to the playoffs. By ignoring opportunities in FA to make the defense better, it has fallen short with those opportunities.

I don't think anyone here wants Dallas to spray money around to every big-name FA. Making a couple of major moves could easily be enough to put us over the top, much like when the 90s team acquired Haley.

Dallas actually had the most wins against teams over. 500 with seven.

And how many teams over .500 have the Cowboys beaten in the playoffs? It's all about taking those final steps. Cream of the crop does more than win a playoff game every few years.

And yet only 2 playoff wins (both in the wildcard round) over the past 20+ seasons.

Being kings of the regular season doesn't mean much if you cant get it done in the playoffs. Its the reason teams only hang championship banners from their rafters and not division title banners. Nobody gives a dam if you win the division if you are one and done in the playoffs. More of an embarrassment than an accomplishment.

How do you know they’re an upgrade?

They haven’t played a single down for the Cowboys.

I watch football. Paea is going to thrive under Maranelli again, Carroll is a better player than Carr, who was steady but mediocre.

The Cowboys should get better. I don't know why a team that is primarily made up of players with their arrows pointed firmly in an upward trajectory should expect anything else. This team isn't old and stale anymore, of course their young talent is going to continue to improve. I love the draft and Dallas should be able to continue to build through it, but people forget, the primary way a good YOUNG team with a lot of talent continues to get better is not from outside sources, it is from self-improvement.

Taking risks is the polar opposite of complacency.

You have to build a team that gets there first. This team went from being a team with a very short widow to one starting a new one. We got very good at key positions in one year. We are tied with the patriots in being the best drafting team over the last 5 years. Im not upset over any of the players we lost. so far the season is a wash so far and we have not made it to the draft yet.

Yea and you watched them play on other teams not the team that will take the field next season for the Cowboys.

They wouldn't be the first free agents to underperform when getting here.
