Back when this next one was brand new, my mom bought me the record. It was the size of an LP, but it was all one song. I was in hog heaven! Real old skool here... I don't really care if these songs are "commercialized" or "mainstream". They are the reason we have so much and so many types of rap today. Hell, ANY rap today! They were the pioneers and the soldiers, the Bravehearts that cleared the path for the others to pass through with their own future creative styles. They should be commended and never forgotten or dismissed. And God bless 'em. Couldn't live, nor could have ever been, without them! I could easily see this thread battin' 1000 pages. lol

I need that Frankie Smith vinyl

heck... speaking of Houston!

Ghetto Boys...

Man, Scarface is so ill, and underrated.

Heck yeah, I remember this one. I'm from a little bit south of Houston, and I think it is so amazing the talent that comes out of that big city just up the road from me. You would think all the awesome stuff is from some place far away, like usual. But the talent out of Houston is just incredible. I agree that they are underrated because they don't come from the more popular and known spots, but some of us know better.

Yeah, I'm a Coney Island guy. My dad's from the Bronx and my mom's from Newark. They met at a rehab in Lower East Side, Manhattan. So I have history all over the metro area.

Newark... I got family from Newark... Got some wild stories from PJ's from out there as a kid.

Yeah, Newark's crazy. I actually grew up knowing a good bit of celebrities through my parents... But not for good reasons... People like Whitney and Bobby Brown, Lawrence Taylor, and Sinbad. I saw them all the time when I was a kid.

I wanted to post the original "Gucci", but couldn't find a clean enough version. Such a shame. I know there are cleaner versions of these songs, because I used to jam out to them on Magic102 back in the day, and radio did not allow any cussing. But our beloved youtube does not have posted versions. I guess nobody likes the clean versions??? But here is a sampling of this song that I love so much, by the Awesome BB

And here's some more BB...

Working on an eight year old laptop. Not the best perfomance. But still a good old workhorse.

This band is not considered rap, they are from England and are in the techno genre, but they are Pioneers of the industry, and one of the best bands out there for original flow. Check them out. They are truly a great band. The definition of progression. One sample....

Just received the news. Was praying for a miracle, but got reality instead. This is the only song that comes to mind, this is the only one I got. If anyone else has something better, no matter what genre or type of music it is, please post it for our old friend. For DC, for Brian. RIP.

Licensed to ill was such a fun album... spent hours listening to it on my boom box as a kid.... when, the songs with the curses would come on, I would turn it real low.

Thanks bro.

Honestly I was just messin around. I have no clue about rap or hip hop. I know The King of Pop and that's about it. I did own the Friday soundtrack at one time. Cypress Hill etc. :)
