I don't know about that real man stuff, real men provide for their families and plenty of them don't let their pride stop that.
I agree, McC knew exactly what he was getting into and he needed a job and picking up 16-20M over 4 years is a small price to pay.
I think it is we who do not understand the role money plays in this and we see this as something different and it isn't. Norv Turner and John Fox have made more in walk away money than most will make in their lifetime.
McC was probably coached by Garrett going into that interview on exactly what Booger liked and he gave it to him in 12 hours.
The other plus to this job is that the rumor of the Joneses involvement always gives the HC a lifeline.
While I do not know of McCarthys current financial state, my assumption would be that his lifestyle is somewhat comfortable at this stage in his life.
If the allure of the Cowboy HC job was anything more than about fattening his future retirement portfolio at this point I could maybe agree with you more
But a seasoned, former SB winning coach looking to re-salvage a more positive image after a falling out(getting fired) with Green Bay should have had his own conditional requirements before accepting this job imo. I mean if he wanted to show any credibility.
If there is some un-reported bankruptcy or seriously demanding financial strain on his family going on behind the scenes, then like I said, I could maybe buy into his con job a little better. As it stands now, he is embarrassing the title of HC of the Cowboys just as the many yes men that preceded him.
Several of the more consistently winning coaches would never have accepted this job in the first place and that's been my point from day one.
He's the head coach. Act like it.
He sure doesnt have a problem cashing his checks.
"Just because it's ultimately a Jerry's Way" situation does not absolve him of AT LEAST performing his job at a much more competent level than he's shown up to now.
