just a little weed huh?

Anyone who believes that nonsense is foolish.

He was a cokehead at UGA. It stands to reason that he was still a cokehead in the pros. I have no evidence that it was coke that got him kicked out of the league. But the circumstantial evidence is strong in that I know he was a cokehead at UGA, so it is possible it was coke this time. That fact coupled with the general argument that pot seems to be a minor issue with most pro athletes, yet there seemed to be great concern with Carter's problem suggests that it wasn't pot that got him in that much trouble.

Regardless, he is a liar, so anyone who buys his "it was just a little weed and there isn't anything else wrong with me" argument is just a sucker.

I’ll never understand the love fest for QC. Someone please explain it to me… This man’s talent level was way below average. The Cowboys didn’t cut him because he smoked a little pot, he was cut because he wasn’t any good. Talented players don’t get cut because of drugs.

Imagine Brady coming up positive, if New England cut him teams would line up to sign the man. The same with Merriman, if SD cut him right now, teams would line up to sign the man. Character is always second to talent.

No, he got cut for both. He wasn't talented enough to overcome his drug problems. If it was just based on his talent alone he would not have been cut. Not because he was super talented(he wasn't), but because he was more talented than Vinny at the time. There was no reason to keep Vinny over Quincy unless you count character. That was the determining factor for Dallas. Most other teams don't have to take that into their consideration when evaluating Quincy. They can just look at his talent and the fact he has not played in almost two full seasons.

I think Quincy is good enough talent wise to be a good back up. Someone that can come in and do some things to help maintain a winning record for a team. Add in character, which you always have to do and then Quincy is not a good back up. He is not dependable. Unless he has changed, he is not worth counting on.

If they had to bring him in for a tryout in training camp next year, no problem, but he should not be a top option. If Romo and Bledsoe get injured, then it really won't matter who Dallas brings in the rest of this season.

I agree that this thread will be a long one. It does not need to be, but I am sure I may have a few posts on it.

He was better than Vinny.

If people say Tuna brought in Vinny to replace QC - drugs/suspension NOT being a factor - i'd say check for lobotomy scars.

I'd rather have Drew B. as backup this year... next year is a long ways away and of no concern today.

The liklihood he gets another NFL shot lies somewhere between slim and none.

I'm glad you brought that up, I'd like to find those 2 places. My wife told me the same thing last night and I don't know where to start looking.

Then she said her head hurt and rolled over, huh? That's the worst. :p:

I say Vinny was brought in to replace him. Got it direct from Valley Ranch in March 2004, a full 4 months before we even got Testasaurus. Henson was also brought in to replace him. That didn't work out. It doesn't change the fact that was clearly the plan from the get go.

His drug test was simply the final straw and the clear cut opportunity to be rid of him, he possessed mobility and a good deep ball but as witnessed by his poor judgement to buy drugs, not a particularly smart man. He was shown the door with the reality that Dallas could and must do better with their signal callers.

IMO, QB is the hardest position to fill. Teams are desperate for quality QB’s. There is a vast difference between a starting QB and a back up… it drops even further when we bring in the 3rd string QB. NFL teams are always searching for a talented field general. Off field issues don’t mean a thing when you talk about quality play on the field.

Just look at TO, right or wrong he brings off field issues with him. Yet, if the Boys released TO today, tomorrow he would be going through offers from others teams. QC hasn’t fielded offers from other teams because of his level of talent. Not because he smoked a joint.

I couldn't agree more, the organization was doing everything it could to find a replacement. Vinny may not have been good, but the Cowboys felt he was better than QC.

Seriously? I can't tell if you're kidding or not

if that's the case, that's just horrible. Vinny is the worst thing to happen to this franchise since I've been a fan. He is the reason why I had to go to therapy to help erase the 2004 season from my head (joking)... what a waste of a season though. I threw up and passed out everytime the ball was snapped to that moron with his pants pulled up to his chest

There's a heck of a difference between Coleman, a S/CB, getting suspended and a QB in the NFL. Teams invest too much money/time/effort in QB and their importance on the team and necessity of other players being able to rely on the QB transcends all other positions. No owner will knowing sign a QB who was suspended for drugs/steriods unless he's destined for the HOF. Somebody may sign Quincy, but as a backup not starter & frankly since it was Dallas where he got suspended, no way will JJ bring him back here.

I've smoked pot before and its good. But i can gaurantee you i would rather be leading the greatest team in the history of all sports than get a good buzz. Geez.......what an idiot.

You've smoked before, but I doubt you've ever had pressure on you equal to that of being the QB of the Dallas Cowboys. So don't act like you know what it's all about.

I believe Quincy Carter is better than Bledsoe and I believe that the Cowboys should sign him back to be a back-up.

Unbelieveable.

As much as we try to distance ourselves from Carter, I am grateful to him for the following reasons

- He led our team to the playoffs
- He led many a 4th quarter comeback wins
- He won when I went to see the Cowboys play, (miracle comeback against Carolina)
- He was the first one to beat the Eagles when they had our number
- He never lost to the Commanders.

That being said, I don't want him on the team now, but I wish him the best of luck in the future.
