essentially we traded a third and fifth for a first, stop your kvetching

ESSENTIALLY? Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. But, we ACTUALLY traded a 2, 3 and 5 because that's the hand we were holding.

I don't mind moving up, but not giving up a (really high) 2nd, a 3rd and a 5th. I don't know about the chart but that just sounds crazy.

Of course, I hope it works out too.... I just think we had a great opportunity to really cash in and we squandered or traded it for one guy.

Listen very carefully ...... we were gonna take Spencer at 22 ..... we moved down and got him anyway AND a high number one pick next year for the grand total of a 3rd and 5th.

We got Raped ...... ;)

What in the world are you talking about? We only came out 30 points short based on the value draft chart (which is nothing ... Carolina came up 100 points short earlier today) when we moved up, and Spencer was the last good pass rusher in the entire draft. The position falls off the cliff after Spencer was off the board.

I guess you don't think sacking the quarterback is very important.

You mean the 2nd we stole from Cleveland at gunpoint?

Some people just don't get it....

When we started the day we didn't have that extra pick at 2. so we made out quite well IMO

That's the key. I hate giving up that 3rd, but in this particular case I think we had to if we wanted a really top passrusher. Who available later could do what Spencer can?

And just as I type this, even Gosselin just said Spencer was the last of the top-five best passrushers. After that, guys like Amiabiri (sp) were real projection types who were far below Spencer.

I don't think it's the ONLY thing like everyone else does. I mean, it makes a great one minute highlight real.

If Fergy or Terry Glenn go down, we'll see who's crying then.

God, you aren't very bright are you?

We didn't give up a 2, 3, and 5th for Spencer.

We gave up a 3rd and a 5th to move up to get him.

In other words, assume that Spencer is that "high" 2nd round pick. We gave up a 3rd and a 5th to get him in the 1st instead of the second.

It's simple math.

Beginning the day we had

1 1st Round pick
1 2nd Round pick
1 3rd Round pick
1 5th Round pick

At the end of the day we have
1 1st Round pick (Spencer)
1 2nd Round pick
0 3rd Round pick
0 5th Round pick
1 1st Round pick in '08

It's simple math. If you can't understand it, you need to go back to elementary school. We gave up a 3rd and a 5th and got a top 5 pick last year.

Um we still have 7 picks left to draft a WR

I'm not necessarily upset with the pick. Just the price ("the chart" not withstanding).

Look, if you morph Cleveland and Philly into one trade, it's not so bad. But, we didn't have to do that. We could have stood pat after Cleveland and picked up three players for the price of one.

Trading a high second, a third and a fifth to move up a few slots is just a horrible deal. The Cleveland deal was so sweet it diminishes the stupidity. We wanted someone bad and we over-reached. The Eagles suckered us just like we suckered the Browns. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Well Eckel just reported that the Eagles were going to select Spencer had Dallas not called.

So I wouldn't call that a reach.

I don't think you can say that until you see whats left when the Eagles pick at 36. I think its great so far. Wait till you see what we do with the second pick before you judge it.

The talent/value is not as great later on. Get a good player when you can get him.

It's like instead of buying a new car...you want to buy 3 old junkers?

You mean NE, not the Eagles.

The Eagles wouldn't trade their pick if they wanted the guy that Dallas wanted.
