Horrible Deal

God, you aren't very bright are you?

We didn't give up a 2, 3, and 5th for Spencer.

We gave up a 3rd and a 5th to move up to get him.

In other words, assume that Spencer is that "high" 2nd round pick. We gave up a 3rd and a 5th to get him in the 1st instead of the second.

It's simple math.

Beginning the day we had

1 1st Round pick
1 2nd Round pick
1 3rd Round pick
1 5th Round pick

At the end of the day we have
1 1st Round pick (Spencer)
1 2nd Round pick
0 3rd Round pick
0 5th Round pick
1 1st Round pick in '08

It's simple math. If you can't understand it, you need to go back to elementary school. We gave up a 3rd and a 5th and got a top 5 pick last year.

Make that 2 1st round picks in '08.;) :p:

In Jeremiah 5:21
Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not” seems to sum it up quite well.

We did good.

Let me break it down nice and slow so even you can understand...

If you want to say it went up to the first round and it makes you feel better, that's fine. All I know is we traded it (along with a third and fifth) for that pick. That's three (not two) draft picks. Comprehende?

I think we could have just gotten Branch with that high second too, couldn't we..?
FYI: 3-1 = 2.

I bet we do not get a top 10 pick next year even with the Browns they just got a left tackle and a QB that will make them that much better. I betting we get around the 11-15 range

Yeah, Brady Quinn is going to make them SO MUCH BETTER in his first year...

They might even go to the SuperBowl!!

This is all that you said: "WE HAD A SECOND, THIRD AND A FIFTH. OPEN YOU EYES!!!"

We still have our "second" second.

We traded our "first" second (after the trade to Cleveland) to get back into the first. So, we effectively lost a 3rd and a 5th for a possible top five pick next year.

Arguing with you is like talking to a wall.

So we lost out on Kevin Kolb for a legit chance at Darren McFadden.

I do that every year.

You're right.

If Spenser is good, then it was a good move. If not, then we'll never know who we could have gotten at 3 and 5. (Just for the record, you can pick up some good talent there). Also, I just didn't think LB (or passrusher) was high need. (Ellis, Ware, Carp, Burnett). We could have gotten Branch (I think) who is much more of a unique talent in a higher need postion. Anyway, water under the bridge.

I hope it works out.

Well we all saw how it worked out last year when Ellis went down...other than Ware, we did not have a pass rush. So I would say the deal fell just right...we got our pass rusher + a very good player next year. With two 1st round picks you control the draft.

Well, what I mean is, we don't know who's going to get injured. Who's going to step up and play well and who's going to OD on vitamin pills.

You should have said that in the first place...?

Man I'm not crying about this trade at all. Dallas has two first round picks for next year! At first I was like why trade the 34th pick but then again they got a OLB to play opposite of Ware for years to come!

Injuries ar ea fact of life. The guy we took at 26 played a game with a hyper extended knee and recorded 15 tackles from the DE position.
