I don't think it's the ONLY thing like everyone else does. I mean, it makes a great one minute highlight real.

If Fergy or Terry Glenn go down, we'll see who's crying then.

Yeah, and a rookie 5th round draft pick was going to step right in and carry us to the Superbowl. :laugh2:

I wish people would get off the overrated Value chart, which is a guide and not a rule.

You mean NE, not the Eagles.

The Eagles wouldn't trade their pick if they wanted the guy that Dallas wanted.

No not NE.

He said that the Eagles wanted to trade down, and Dallas called with their proposal. The Eagles accepted it. Had the Eagles not had any suitors to trade down, then they would have used the pick to select Spencer.

It's not that hard.

This is pretty much what we did:

Gained: Early 1st next year.
Lost: Dropped 4 selections in this years first round, a 3rd and a 5th.

And we still got the played we would have selected. The ONLY thing we lost are two middle round draft picks. IT IS BRILLIANT.

No duh. Do you have a better objective way to determine pick value (other than what you dream up in your imagination)? If so, please share.

God, you aren't very bright are you?

We didn't give up a 2, 3, and 5th for Spencer.

We gave up a 3rd and a 5th to move up to get him.

In other words, assume that Spencer is that "high" 2nd round pick. We gave up a 3rd and a 5th to get him in the 1st instead of the second.

It's simple math.

Beginning the day we had

1 1st Round pick
1 2nd Round pick
1 3rd Round pick
1 5th Round pick

At the end of the day we have
1 1st Round pick (Spencer)
1 2nd Round pick
0 3rd Round pick
0 5th Round pick
1 1st Round pick in '08

It's simple math. If you can't understand it, you need to go back to elementary school. We gave up a 3rd and a 5th and got a top 5 pick last year.

God, I'm tired of explaining that I'm talking about the Cleveland trade. It was genius. I'm not talking about Cleveland/Philly trade. I'm just talking about trading 2, 3, and 5 for Spenser. That's all.

By the way, I don't appreciate the insults.

I see. However, they didn't really want Spencer. It was more of a default pick if no one gave them what they really wanted - some draft picks - because they lost out on the player they really wanted: Merriweather.

How can people pan the trades we made? That doesn't make a lick of sense folks.

Tell me when you WOULDN'T trade a 3rd and a 5th for a potential top 5 pick?

Holy cow, open your eyes.

The talent/value is not as great later on. Get a good player when you can get him.

It's like instead of buying a new car...you want to buy 3 old junkers?

You mean like Hatcher, Canty, Romo, James, Crayton, Witten.

Uh, we didn't lose our "first" second round pick. That got moved up to the 26th pick in the draft.

Don't you understand why people are a little peeved at your lack of knowledge?

Judas Priest.

We got the #36 pick and a 1st in 2008 that could be a top 5 pick. Cleveland sucks in case you haven't noticed.

We took that 36 and our 3rd & 5th and got back into the first and got the player we wanted at 22.

So we gave up a 3rd and a 5th for a 1st next year that could be a top 5.

Simple math. Pay attention.

That was years ago! How do you know what the talent and the needs for the team are now?

You don't...!

Again, because the team is pretty full of talent now, why pick a bunch of players that might not make a difference?

Get a good one that is known...and go from there. We got a probable high 1st next year...and our own first...that is called looking out for the future and making a plan...

You probably wanted all 10 draft picks, huh? Well, guess what? Maybe 3, maybe 4, maybe none, would have made the team...

Jones makes a great deal for the future, and at the same time we get the guy we wanted to help us now- and somebody cries???

It's like therapy for these folks, I guess. I love this deal, lost 30 points and all.

Exactly they got the guy they wanted and essentially traded a 3rd and a 5th for a 1st next year. The only downside to this move is having to deal with the Eagles to make it happen.

Exactly. That pick could wind up being worth a couple thousand draft points next year. Add to that the fact that we used extra picks this year to get us what we wanted and it's a great deal.

Let me break it down nice and slow so even you can understand...

If you want to say it went up to the first round and it makes you feel better, that's fine. All I know is we traded it (along with a third and fifth) for that pick. That's three (not two) draft picks. Comprehende?

I think we could have just gotten Branch with that high second too, couldn't we..?

I bet we do not get a top 10 pick next year even with the Browns they just got a left tackle and a QB that will make them that much better. I betting we get around the 11-15 range
