How are the Cowboys going to stop RB David Wilson?

Yea your correct probably shouldn't even watch the game but i am gonna and root for these guys all day long. Just as long as we tackle well as a team and not whiff and bounce off we shall be fine.

I missed the part where I said to not watch the game! It's not about rooting or not rooting for the team; we're all Dallas fans until the day we leave this earth. I hope we're fine as well, but losing Bass just hampered my optimism a bit.

The Giants are familiar with our new offense or our new defense...

It's not really an entirely new offense though. Tony's essentially had the same offense since 2007. It's obvious that different zone-blocking techniques will be implemented because of Callahan, but our passing game hasn't changed.

On defense we're obviously a different scheme, but coaches can go back and look at old film from USC, Chicago or Tampa Bay days. The scheme doesn't change, but the personnel does, which the Giants are familiar with.

Not too worried about wilson its not like they are sporting an all pro offensive line right now. We still have the advantage even without Spencer and Ratliff. Hayden and Selvie are going to be just fine.

This will be an issue all year as we try to overcome "a real strength of the team".

I'm concerned about our DL as well, but injuries to Spencer, Crawford, Ratliff, and Bass have certainly thinned out our DL. I think Spencer, Rat, Hatcher, and Ware with Crawford, Bass, Cohen, Selvie backing up would've been good. I know we got Selvie and Cohen after Jerry made that comment but it would not have been so far-fetched if we didn't get slammed with these injuries.

I'm not so much worried about Hayden, but guys like Selvie, Cohen and Rayford do concern me.

Chin up man LOL we will be fine might be down a couple players but rather be down a couple guys and tackle well then be full strength and have guys whiffing, confused, and pointing at each other.

Not only are we moving more and more towards a zone blocking scheme, but we have forgone the use of a fullback in our offense.

There are going to be similarities, but this offense is different simply by having a base 2 tight end set makes it significantly different.

Having Bill Callahan call the plays, and Romo playing a part in deciding installation and construction of plays makes the offense significantly different.

We might still be in an Air Coryell system of Jason Garretts, but I fully expect that we're going to see plays called more oriented to the strengths of Tony Romo. Not to describe it as west coast, but I think we'll see a lot more 3 step drops than normal. And I think the way we use the running back in the passing game is going to evolve beyond what it has been in the past.

All this compared to the Giants who are running the same offense and defense...

Bend but don't break...I expect scoring on both sides, some missed red zone opportunities on both sides resulting in FG attempts...we win 30-20

Tony has been more involved with installation and such, but how are we going to be different schematically? There's no fullback now, but is Escobar or Hanna solid enough to still pose a threat to defenses? I think Hanna can be, but Escobar has been uninspiring thus far.

I don't know how you feel about this, but I assume that we'll see a lot of 11 personnel with Terrance Williams on the outside (not sure if he's X or Z) and Austin in the slot. Murray seems to run better out of this package as well. I want to see us attack the edges of the Giants' DL with stretch plays and force those pass rushers to play the run first. Tire them out with the run, and THEN attack them with the potent passing attack we possess. The best defense we can play is to win the time of possession, execute in the red zone and keep our vulnerable DL off the field.

So should our guys just get out of the way and let him score fast so we can get the ball back

Is that what I said? Take the silver and blue shades off buddy. The bottom line is Wilson is gonna get his in this game. Our D-line is banged up which equates to Wilson getting to the second level frequently. Wilson is a terror. He will rip off some big runs on us. Does that mean we're going to lose? Of course not.

I don't agree. I see the same cast of misfits as I saw on the OL a year ago. No way is that group, completely healthy, a strength of the team. It's an aging starting unit with no depth and one young prospect who may be a factor in the future.

If I was an owner of a team and my GM said that, I would immediately fire him.

If we can't stop Wilson we probably bring up a safety and hope our high dollar CB's can hold up. I don't have an issue with our original DL except I think it was naïve to think Ratliff would be healthy.

I don't really see the Cowboys as a ball-control offense.
This offense has ranked in the top 6 in TOP per drive each of the last two seasons.

2011
Pit 3:09
SD 3:06
NO 2:56
GB 2:51
Atl 2:49
Dal 2:47
Hou 2:47
SF 2:46
Car 2:45
Bal 2:41

2012
Sea 3:07
SD 2:55
SF 2:54
Dal 2:52
Atl 2:50
Was 2:49
Pit 2:48
Ind 2:47
Den 2:47
Car 2:46

If the defense can get off the field consistently, we'll dominate time of possession in games. In defensive TOP, the Cowboys were 23rd in 2011 and 26th last year.

Nice stats! Looks like our defense gave up way too many quick scoring drives.

About a third of the plays we used before with a fullback either do not exist or will be replaced with a tight end. That is a huge difference in offensive scheme.

Escobar isn't solved enough in the passing game but Hanna is? What are you basing that off of?

I think Terrance Williams will get plenty of snaps. And he is Z. Though they move the players around.

This team is going to pass to set up the run, not the other way around.

You invert the order for defenses, so that's 23rd- and 26th-shortest average possession for the opponent. IOW, 10th- and 7th-longest average possession against.

On the plus side, their offensive line is in even worse shape than our defensive line health-wise. I don't think they're going to run it all over us.
