How are the Cowboys going to stop RB David Wilson?

After tomorrow night, I'm predicting that many of us will be wishing we had Wilson instead of Murray. I think Dallas wins the game, but there's no way Murray has over 100 yards tomorrow night. Wilson on the other hand, I think he gets his 100.

The Giants really beefed up the middle of their DL and I expect the Cowboys to struggle running the ball, and we'll probably have a 65/35 pass/run ratio anyway.

As long as the Cowboys score more points... I could care less if Wilson gets 200 yards.

Ware is great but breaking down physically. Spencer has one year in his entire career where he's been a top player. Ratliff hasn't been a good player in 3 years. Hatcher is decent but also aging. In fact all 4 starters have age against them. There isn't a backup on the roster worth noting.

It is clearly one of the weaknesses of the team.

Long term? Sure, they literally all need to be replaced, but this season, healthy, that line would've been very good. Spencer has been a really good player for a long time now so I disagree there. Hatcher is a beast and Ratliff has been pro bowl caliber every time he's played, problem is, he hasn't played.

Marinelli really liked this group from the outset so you have to put some stock into that, no?

I'm more worried about between the tackles power runners than a guy like Wilson who wants to bounce things outside.

This will be an issue all year as we try to overcome "a real strength of the team".

That comment was said when Spencer was healthy, Ratfliff was expected game 1 and we still had Lissmore.

Trotting out that statement just makes you look petty, angry and pathetic.

That's because he didn't play much after that until week 13. He had 26 carries combined from week 2 through 12. The fact is Wilson had a problem with fumbling during his time at VT. He had at least 7 fumbles that I know of during his senior year alone. And then, on his second carry as a pro, he fumbles the ball, thus his "fumble prone" label.

Players also progress at the professional level, and he's only had 1 fumble in his NFL career. He also handled kickoff returns for the Giants last year; possibly the most dangerous play in football and he didn't fumble once. I'll change my avatar to Dave Campo for a month if Wilson loses a fumble tomorrow night. I just don't see it happening...

I don't agree. I see the same cast of misfits as I saw on the OL a year ago. No way is that group, completely healthy, a strength of the team. It's an aging starting unit with no depth and one young prospect who may be a factor in the future.

If I was an owner of a team and my GM said that, I would immediately fire him.

Can you share your in depth scouting reports on all those players with the rest of us?

I'm particularly interested in how they have performed in practice.

But yes I can certainly see how you'd count a group that consists of 4 starters and was projected to have Ware, Spencer and Ratliff as 3 of said starters as a weakness on par with arkin, cook and costa.

Embarrassing.

Monte didn't say that. Our GM did.

Injuries provide the excuse. The truth is we lack talent along the DL.

Yeah only Ware and Spencer as bookends. One a first ballot HoF in his prime....the other guy only our best defensive player last year.

Where is all the talent?!?

We're not going to stop David Wilson. We're just going to have to outscore them which we can probably do.

If they will tackle well then we can reduce his yardage and perhaps some big plays. This guy is explosive. I really like this player.

When did David Wilson become some HoF RB that we need to worry about?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe he has the potential to have a big game with 1/2 of our starters on the DL OUT, and our top two reserves in Bass and Crawford OUT for the season.

Could be a part of it...

There has to be a difference when you're going up against a divisional opponent like NYG who's familiar with your schemes and personnel, compared to a preseason opponent where there's essentially no game-planning at all.

Too bad we have a different scheme this year or I would agree with you. Giants have not seen what we are going to do on Defense or Offense so thats a win for us. By the 2nd game yes they will know more about us right now they are watching college tapes trying to figure out what we going to do. Not a formula for success or "knowing" what we are going to be doing

I know we're used to seeing Eli sling it against us, but With Cruz and Nicks not at 100%, I really think we'll see a heavy dose of RB David Wilson.

Coughlin knows how explosive the Cowboys can be on offense especially with the revamped OL and how vulnerable we are on the DL, so I believe he'll try more of a ball-controlled offense for the Giants.

So, how would you stop NYG's running attack? Nick Hayden, Landon Cohen and Caesar Rayford don't exactly exude confidence!

My best guess is to tackle him.

Just must wrap him up, because if he gets into the secondary, he's gone.
Cartwr and Lee are up to the task

Giants oline is pretty beat up, I don't think their run game will be as effective as you think!

I recall reports around draft time saying Kiffins endorsement of the dline allowed the cowboys to look elsewhere in the draft. (I apologize if im wrong.)At that time there was certainly some talent along the line. Every projected starter has proven to be effective throughout their career. When you lose 3 guys for an extended period and the health of your starting SDE is up in the air, I don't care who you are, your depth chart is going to look rough.

How about we see how they do tomorrow before we pass judgement.

I don't know what your definition of "worth noting" is. Crawford is certainly worth noting and it's a shame we lost him this year. Bass and Selvie look like players and Hayden isn't terrible either. That's not even mentioning the kid we got from Indy who supposedly isn't too shabby either. I don't know what you expect from backup dlinemen. You can't have a starting defensive line backing up the starting defensive line.

Nonsense. Wilson has a lot to prove. Murray has proven to be an effective runner when he isn't hurt. Besides, if we have to pass to win, so what? Thats exactly what this offense is built to do.
