How are the Cowboys going to stop RB David Wilson?

Being that Wilson is fumble prone, I think the thread title should read "how is David Wilson going to keep the ball in his hands." The way Kiffin has emphasized gang tackling and ball stripping in the preseason has really impressed me. I'm predicting two fumbles from Wilson in the 1st half, and another in the 2nd before he's benched.

Wishful thinking but when you say "fumble prone," do you mean the ONE fumble lost by Wilson last year in Week 1 against the Cowboys? He didn't lose another fumble the entire season.

Their line isn't all that great, I do believe he'll still have a good day but I hope we outscore them. I don't see us having a seemless transition into our new defensive scheme. He could have a 100 yard 1TD day.

We can't expect to go into this game and just dominate...it's going to be a shootout with the last man holding the ball winning

I know we're used to seeing Eli sling it against us, but With Cruz and Nicks not at 100%, I really think we'll see a heavy dose of RB David Wilson.

Coughlin knows how explosive the Cowboys can be on offense especially with the revamped OL and how vulnerable we are on the DL, so I believe he'll try more of a ball-controlled offense for the Giants.

So, how would you stop NYG's running attack? Nick Hayden, Landon Cohen and Caesar Rayford don't exactly exude confidence!

I'm not down on Hayden, he outplayed two of our guys we thought were pretty good last year in Bass and Lissemore. For that matter Marinelli who I trust until the DL loses a game for us liked Cohen better than Lissemore. I also wouldn't underestimate Rayford. If you get four high motor guys like Ware, Hatcher, Hayden, and Selvie getting penetration against the depleted Giants line, they'll probably end up looking like we did last year with the back getting met in the backfield.

The Giants have lost two starters on their OL and also have to start a rookie... And their prized FB is hurt. I'm not that concerned.

We didn't have Spencer and Ratliff all preseason and the first team D was excellent

I disagree. The Raiders and Bengals both ran it pretty well against the starters. We got a turnover against Bengals at the goalline and a big sack against Raiders that covered up what the run D did.

I'm more worried about between the tackles power runners than a guy like Wilson who wants to bounce things outside.

This will be an issue all year as we try to overcome "a real strength of the team".

Hopefully Spencer is playing from next week, Ratliff comes back week 7 and then we will be stout in front, until then our fast and brilliant LB corp has to take up the slack.

I think Hayden ok against run , but the behind him we don't have any proven.

... and they have zero depth at RB. It's literally Wilson or the janitor for them. That's basically their options at this point.

After tomorrow night, I'm predicting that many of us will be wishing we had Wilson instead of Murray. I think Dallas wins the game, but there's no way Murray has over 100 yards tomorrow night. Wilson on the other hand, I think he gets his 100.

The Giants really beefed up the middle of their DL and I expect the Cowboys to struggle running the ball, and we'll probably have a 65/35 pass/run ratio anyway.

Who wouldn't want Wilson over Murray? That doesn't mean that either will have a great night tomorrow.

I understand your frustration but when Monte said that, the d-line was looking pretty good personnel wise. They just had some terrible luck with injuries. How were they to know Crawford would go down for the season, or Spencer would be the recipient of the longest 2 week long knee injury ever? Ill give ya Ratliff being a pain in the butt, however they were looking alright even up until the Bass injury. I think they will be alright when Spence gets back. You don't need all stars at every position.

Monte didn't say that. Our GM did.

Injuries provide the excuse. The truth is we lack talent along the DL.

It may not work the best everytime but building from the inside out is the safest bet there is in the NFL. Cowboys via Jerry are a "ie" Outside In Team.

That's because he didn't play much after that until week 13. He had 26 carries combined from week 2 through 12. The fact is Wilson had a problem with fumbling during his time at VT. He had at least 7 fumbles that I know of during his senior year alone. And then, on his second carry as a pro, he fumbles the ball, thus his "fumble prone" label.

So did Marinelli, would you fire him too? There is absolutely no way in hell that you believe a Dline consisting of a healthy Ware, Hatcher, Ratliff and Spencer is not a strength. You're simply lying to yourself if you think that unit "lacks talent"! Before injuries, I didn't think the depth was bad either.

Ware is great but breaking down physically. Spencer has one year in his entire career where he's been a top player. Ratliff hasn't been a good player in 3 years. Hatcher is decent but also aging. In fact all 4 starters have age against them. There isn't a backup on the roster worth noting.

It is clearly one of the weaknesses of the team.
