How bad is this Defense?

Our time of possession had been good up to this point. Today was just a bad game all around.

The difference today was there was almost no pass rush. A QB as good as Rivers is going to look great when he gets all day to throw. The coverage was bad, too, but the best friend of a secondary is a quarterback under duress.

yup....this defense scheme is predicated on rushing the passer.......and those little crossbuck inside handoffs timed the DE already upfeild perfectly. Our defensive line is supposed to play the run on the way to the QB, they ddint let hatcher or hayden penetrate, but let the DE upfeild and ran inside him time after time, especially left with Woodhead........

You can't rely on defense in today's NFL.

They stunk in the third quarter but our offense was just as bad if not worse.

There was plenty of suckage to go around today between the offense, defense, and coaching staff. Word has it that they're all holding a Suckage Convention later in the week.

We actually do have the corners to play man. Thats not the problem though.


All you can ask from a defense in todays NFL is to slow down the other teams offense and create turnovers. The first half we did that. The 2nd half we didnt.

The rules are so rediculously lopsided that we're not ever going to shut teams out with any kind of consistency.

Kiffens defenses have sucked for years. Don't know why we expect anything else.

I agree with you sadly, I however had a good feeling about Rod Marinelli being in the staff because he is younger, and more respected by players, I actually like him.

The defense was indeed terrible today, and it doesn't seem like there are any answers as to how to stop Denver next week. It is however early to judge the defense in Week 4, but in general I do miss Ryan's defense to be honest.

If we however manage to do the unthinkable and beat Denver, which I honestly think we have a chance at doing, then it will be thanks to the defense, meaning Kiffin and Marinelli will be credited with coming back with a winning game plane.

Rivers was getting rid of the ball quick. Coverage has to be better.

We sit in a zone for most of the game........and get picked apart. And then, the few times we attempt to cross them up and go man, they are able to single up Woodhead on Carter twice.........are we tipping our hand that clearly?

I know he's got a shoulder issue but Morris Claiborne looks like a bust to me. And I saw him play in college and know he was a good player. But he looks like one of those guys whose play just doesn't translate to the NFL. Worthy of the 6th overall pick? Right now, no way.

I still don't have a problem with the D. When you play a good QB your going to give up points. This D can be good, but your going to have games like that. The offence can't go 3 and out when you have a good QB on a roll.
