How bad is this DL?

If 4 DT's on the line is our best chance at getting pressure then I don't think coaching is to blame in that situation. Our defensive ends aren't worth a darn and we at least have some pieces at DT than can pass rush. Sadly, Crawford can probably get to the QB about as much as a DE as Benson Mayowa or Ryan Davis or whoever else is even on the DE depth chart these days.

You bet.

I watched the Bronco/Colt game and saw similar.

I watched Bradford do the same last night.

I watched Tyrod Taylor miss opportunities against the Jets on Thursday.

It happens.

What was "similar" about the Broncos' and Cowboys' defenses?

Bradford played a heck of a lot better than Cousins did. He hit his throws and outplayed Aaron Rodgers.

You're really reaching here.

Exactly right.

Good defense- No

Horrible defense- No

Chance to get better as the season progresses? - There is some possibility of that

I won't argue with this, but it's a pretty broad assessment, isn't it?

Almost like abstaining from the conversation.

our standard? the season has started this is our defense good and bad. As for overpaying in FA sorry I'm not for it. Josh Norman was a great FA pick up yet the skins still are 0-2 to start the season so all that big money did nothing. Dallas has taken that road before paying out big money and fans B##tched about that as well. Fact is our fans are going to complain about Jerry that is a fact, no matter what he does. I don't excuse anything but I also do not spend my live complaining. This defense will have to play their tails off and fight for everything and I knew that going into the season.

What are we worried about? Overpaying or winning..

Overpaying is now a proven formula for winning championships.

Belichick is the only guy winning championships on a budget and the coaching that goes on here is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar less than what Belichick does with less talent. The guy is 15-5 without his starting QB.

Dallas NEEDS to overpay. Denver is the model that Dallas needs to follow. They won with Kubiak and Wade (who are much better schematically than we are but still)

You can't tell me Dallas isn't a better football team with Olivier Vernon. We needed a real MLB.. We got Hitchens and a guy that may never play again.

It's funny. Our defense isn't great. No one expected it to be. We are definitely short 3-4 key players, yet when push came to shove, they stepped up repeatedly and made big plays and kept the Commanders out of the end zone.

McClain was again pretty good.
Maliek Collins was better. Seems like he is getting his legs back under him after missing a lot of training camp.
Justin Durant looked great and made several plays.
Claiborne looked as good as he ever has.
Brandon Carr even made some plays.

Would love to see Nzeocha back healthy and on the field. I think he, Lee and Durant would be our best possible LB group. Only a a few more weeks until we get some pass rush help with Lawrence.

Also, I think Bruce Carter got too much money but our defense has really missed that guy and the Cowboys should've done more to get him back when he was cut from Tampa.

They must not like him or something but Bruce Carter would make this defense better.

I always thought they thought he was not a high effort guy--despite the huge physical ability. Sort of like when they let Mike Jenkins go when they were thin at CB to begin with.

They need to add talent on defense. We all know it. It's frustrating to watch it happening again. I'm past the point of caring about the no-name, big-effort thing. Watching the Vikes play GB last night had me green with envy.

I do think, when we get the running game going--or when Dak makes teams adjust for what they're doing to stop the run right now--we're going to look like a better team at some point. Playing with a two-score lead is going to make this defense look better. Especially with Lawrence back. It feels like it's pretty close to coming together for the passing game. I guess we'll find out.

This team is already many million over the cap for '17.

I've already seen plenty of information debunking this claim.

When you have as many resources as they do tied up in the offense, then that's what's going to happen.

And that's a poor excuse. They weren't cap-strapped, nor were they without options from both the draft and free agency. They chose what they did.

Exactly right.

The Viking defense is very good.

But player for player I'm taking the Dallas roster overall.

Because our offense is incredible on paper but we don't have the coaches to get the most out of the offensive talent.

I'm not sure I agree there, but then I'm pretty high on the Vikes this year. I guess with Peterson down it gets closer for me. Our offense from top to bottom is impressive. That MIN OL was supposed to have gotten a lot better with Boone in there, but they looked bad last night.

I can't watch the Vikes without thinking of the GROZ stuff over here and how dumb that all was. It was louder, if possible, than the get rid of Garrett stuff is now. It's really amazing how much that guy learned about playing defense when he left Dallas.

Now if you were to comparing coaching staffs... The Vikings have a very, very impressive coaching staff.

if overpaying meant winning then great but it doesn't

I understand you think highly of your view and that is fine but the act is old all you do is complain about Garrett..... We get it you don't like him if the offense is successful you will credit Linehan and if bad it will be because of Garrett I love how you do that. in 2014 Jason had nothing to do with it but in 2015 it was all him. lol
You will complain about Jerry that too is fine, he wants to be GM so it comes with the job when you are not winning but does he get credit for taking Dak? I would think with Romo going down and Dak forced into action jerry may get some kudos for that but somehow I doubt anyone will credit him for that.

I don't think Dallas has avoided trying to better defense but they took risk on guys who many felt where guys with real talent but also with off the field issues. Their failure is on Jerry and should they come back and make this defense better and manage to stay out of trouble then will Jerry get credit for that? I highly doubt it.

game on the line, pure pass rush situation and we send out 4 DT's to get after the QB. Can't make this stuff up

About as bad as the Skin's D-line. Take away Kerrigan and they have nothing...
