How bad is this DL?

Those 2011-2013 rosters weren't as bad as you think. They should have made the playoffs once or twice during that stretch.

I'd say they probably weren't as good as you think. They were contenders in a bad division, but those defenses were truly awful, and the OL was in transition. But I'd have to know which season in particular you thought we had a playoff roster there to debate it more fully. It's probably enough that we just agree to disagree in general, but here they are in their glory if you care to take a walk down memory lane. If you do, say 'hi' to Tyson Poots and Orie Lemon for me.

The defense line is just not good. McClain is the most consistent but other than that.............. not much else.

Although I did see some nice hustle plays from Collins too. DE is a wasteland. Mayowa gets swallowed up way too easily. Irving is really a DT, not a DE. Jack Crawford had that one sack but he's really just a JAG.

Basically, we are left hoping that Lawrence can pick up where he left off last year AND then someone from the other side, either Tapper or Gregory (if he's back after 4 games) can provide some pass rush when teams inevitably start doubling Lawrence.
It looks like most of the Dline is playing another position, I know for sure the two Crawford boys were, I think the strategy was more along the lines that Zeke would be further along in his development and the boys would be dominating the clock more than what they are already accomplishing. It's the NFL and why I would never bet on anything. Getting a starting QB after the fourth rd, yeah no one saw that coming along with Zeke having growing pains.

Vikings rushed four last night and could get after Rodgers.

The front office grossly overestimated the talent they had along the DL and probably overestimated Marinelli's skill in turning hot dogs into filet mignon.

You missed the point.

I haven't been impressed with the technique we use along the DL, seem like we engage in hand fighting too much
I'm going to study it in-depth this week.

I'm not sure I agree there, but then I'm pretty high on the Vikes this year. I guess with Peterson down it gets closer for me. Our offense from top to bottom is impressive. That MIN OL was supposed to have gotten a lot better with Boone in there, but they looked bad last night.

I can't watch the Vikes without thinking of the GROZ stuff over here and how dumb that all was. It was louder, if possible, than the get rid of Garrett stuff is now. It's really amazing how much that guy learned about playing defense when he left Dallas.

Brandon Fusco and Joe Berger are complete spares on the OL. Mike Daniels completely abused Fusco last night.

Those vikes did look good. Man I was jealous.

5 sacks
8 qb hits
7 tackle for losses.

My good friend is a Vikes fan, and Fusco was one of his pet cats, so I probably overvalued him looking at the roster going into the season. But yea, they got abused last night.

Sometimes that's happens in rivalry games, though. I guess we'll see here over the next few weeks. It looks to me like MIN is the class of that division. Did you see that, after last night, Rodgers hasn't had a passer rating over 100 in 14 straight games? That's shocking to me.

Luck applies to a lot of organizations.

Do you think New England "knew" how good Brady was going to be by picking him in the 6th round?

It's also about player development. Look at the QBs that have replaced Brady for injuries and suspensions.

Oh and Paul Krueger, who was released before the season started, and signed w the saints without ever being worked out by the Cowboys got a sack and recovered a fumble in Eli in the Giants game.

Edit: he had the pressure but not the sack. My bad.

If we didn't overpay Romo and Dez we'd have been able to go get more help like the Giants did, instead we had to settle for a guy like Thornton. Unfortunately you can't afford pro-bowlers at every position.

According to NFL Salary Cap Manning's salary is $24,200,000 for 2016 and Romo's is $20,835,000. I don't think Romo's salary is what is holding this team back. Sadly we are not a well run professional team thanks to our egotistical owner and part time senile GM. From what I see of the giants front office, their draft philosophy is to draft solid contributors, they don't reach, and they try to fill needs through FA if possible.

While Zeke may turn out to be a Hall of Famer...RB is a luxury pick, a luxury we could not afford with a draft pick that high, jmo. Same with our second rounder...we needed immediate Defensive help!

That MIN defense is fun to watch. Zimmer knows what he's doing over there, for sure.

When I watched the Minny D I saw a professional, attacking, disruptive, opportunistic unit. When I watch our D I see the land of the misfit toys led by a Coach drawing up plays in the dirt.

It's the players, man. We don't have many guys who can actually play over on that side of the ball. But I'm with you, it's no fun to watch. It's like playing Russian Roullette every week.

historically bad.

But hope Lawrence can help when he comes back in 3 weeks. But I really wouldn't count on Gregory even if his suspension is reduced to 4 games.
