How badly did we mess up the RB situation?

I think we should have drafted Johnny jacobson from julian junior college in jackson missippi. The kid can run. Looks likes a difference maker. We really blew it not drafting him. Why is the front office so stupid. Johhny jacobson is the reeeeeeal deal. Mark my words! He avg 29.3 yards a carry against the biloxi bombers last year.

How many post are like this. According to some the FO always misses on the awesome picks.

Right now the RB situation is ok.

Having said that, the Cowboys are one 8-year veteran, often-injured RB away from disaster.

When you lose your top runner to free agency and replace them with a back who flamed out with the Raiders and hang onto a back who was going through legal issues due to an arrest and pass on a back in a strong RB draft that's usually leads to screwing up.

Hindsight is 20/20 and I hate to say it, but I think things would have been tremendously different had we kept #29.

A lot of us knew once Murray left the running game wouldn't be the same but many here were convinced any back could run behind this OL. We heard it from everyone even some experts that just about any back will have success behind the Cowboys young OL...WRONG! Jerry decided to bank more on his OL than the talent he had at RB and it's been a mistake. The lack of a consistent running game forced Romo to put the ball up 45 times in the opener which was more passing attempts than he had in any game last season.

I posted several times that Romo having to throw more could lead to an injury and he was on pace for another 40+ passing attempt game when he was injured vs Philly. He may have a tough time staying healthy the remaining 7 games if he's having to carry the team with the passing game.

Of course we screwed it up. Stevie Wonder could see this coming.

Not only did we load the RBBC with inferior backs. Garrett/Linehan have no idea how to split the carries.

Matt Jones, JLangford, Ajayi, Cobb, Buck Allen, Karlos Williams, TRawls all have shown NFL ability. Not taking one shows the arrogance of the FO.

"We are the executives of the year. We built the best OL ever. No one pays for or drafts RB anymore"

Where I think we messed up was not going for Peterson.

Had we acquired him I think he saves our season without Romo. He is truly a guy that can overcome having Garrett as a coach and no Romo on the field.

Anyone else available to us and I think we're still 0-7 without Romo.

lol no he doesn't. What does Peterson do against a consistent 8 or 9 man box? Same thing McFadden did Sunday.

They seem to run fine when Ryan Matthews runs the ball.

Also, maybe that's just what Murray really is when he doesn't run behind the Cowboys O-Line.

He's had more seasons like he's having in Philly then his 1 giant season last year.

Murray doesn't fit their zone scheme but he fit perfectly with the Cowboys power scheme. Philly's run blocking has been atrocious at times with Murray being hit in the backfield. He's not producing with them because he doesn't fit but he fit with the Cowboys. If he stays healthy the rest of the season he'll still end up with more rushing yards and TD's than McFadden despite splitting carries with Mathews.

I think we could have done more in the draft especially to address RB, but last year Murray was running through lanes that were 6feet wide, now the lanes when they appear at all are 2 feet wide. I don't think he'd be substantially better than what we have. If he were lighting it up in Philly, you'd have an argument. McFadden is out rushing him so far..

Everyone keeps saying 8 and 9 in the box. I just don't see it.

If Cassel and Linehan can't shred 9 in the box they should retire.

Are you telling me Sterling Moore completely shut down Dez one on one? Witten, Beasley and TWill can't beat single coverage?

And people think we can go 7-0.

We lost our winning formula win Romo went down.

We were 2-0 with Romo and these RB's.

I don't believe Murray has 1 win when Romo ever went out. We are Romo dependent. Not Murray dependent.

Ding, ding, ding, you win the free toaster sir! Well said!

They didnt mess up the rb situation at all.

3 threes don't equal a 9 with Tinder or Running Backs.

We never had a chance. They were so afraid of counting on the guy who set all the team records that they we were left counting on 3 or 4 guys that were a lot more unreliable but cost next to nothing, nothing being the same amount of their previous accomplishments.

No rookie rb would of offset the loss of Tony Romo.

Did not say it would. Williams in particular has had some good performances, with a less than stellar OL and their backup QB, who might not be any better than Cassel or Weeden.

I realize how crucial Romo is, but to come up with an epic losing streak equalled by only the worst squads in our entire history, logic states that you start looking at other possible reasons for the skid.

Right now, even one win provided by leaning on a run game to steal a victory would have everyone feeling a little differently.

When you lose your QB, the natural tendency is to ride your running game, which we really have not during this time period. We have had some decent performances which honestly could have been better with a better talent. Contrary to what has become the running theme around here, it is not completely impossible to win one game out of seven without your starting QB.

Maybe so but I believe the Vikings knew that as well and would've asked for a boat load of picks to part from him. A good friend of mine is a huge Vikings fan and he was convinced Vikings would want at least two first round picks for him. If we were going to give up that, might as well go up and get Gurley.

Take Jason Garrett into consideration when you are comparing other situations.

A backup QB absolutely cripples the Cowboys. Not so much for other teams.

And if your an opposing coach, your going to do everything possible to stop the Cowboy's run game, so...
