Does top ten qualify as close, or do we actually have to be number one? Are we talking yrds, points, or inches in your case?

What would it take to make us elite?

I say, just a couple of outstanding players.

People were panicking today when the D let Cleveland march 80 yards for a TD just before halftime. It still allowed only 10 points.

I think Jerry & Stephen know this offense is set, it's time to start really focusing the next draft on DE's and get some pass rushers in here. Collins will help if he continues to get better.

Here's what Marinelli has been doing with limited talent over the first 8 games of the season:

20 - Giants
23 - Commanders
17 - Bears
17- 49ers
14 - Bengals
16 - Packers
23 - Eagles
10 - Browns

Well... Well.... We will just have to to see how they play against one of the AFC juggernauts.

That is really , I mean really, really, the real test.

I think we grind up the Stealers but I would be worried about the Patriots. We will see.

He hasn't dominated any games yet, but he's flashed a ton of potential. Here's to hoping that he can reach his potential.

I may have been the hardest on Maliek so far, glad to eat crow today. I hope he makes me do it again next game too.

And only reason Browns get that TD before the half was because Jason left too much time on the clock in red zone prior possession. Should have run ball at least once. But it's a minor nit that didn't have much bite in this game.

So much this. Nasty good, bro. And a free agent MLB.

Collins beasted today, everyone in here complaining, step off the ledge.

10 points allowed.

2 sacks for our rook 3T.

7-1. Chill.

Well I am complaining:laugh:

What happens when we play a QB who has time, is on the money and has his WR's get open and actually catch the ball?

The same thing that has happened all season (assuming we have our full secondary) -- stymied receivers (still haven't allowed a 100-yd receiver) and a hog defense that fights for everything.

For the record, I was agreeing with you, brosuf

And we've faced a few pass-oriented teams. Off the ledge, brody. 7-1. Enjoy it.

ETA -- Maliek Collins, 2 sacks. 3rd round pick, woot!

Why can't we enjoy the defense? They are doing exactly what is being asked of them and excelling at it.

They are forcing field goals and not giving up TD's. I realize the offense plays a critical role in the defense but this is the team we have. Without 4 critical stops last week by the defense Wonderboy is trying to explain why the offense faltered last week.

This is a defensive thread and we are talking about the defense.

Who is Wonderboy? Garrett or Dak?

Collins played well today, and can only get better.
Each week it's been a different player stepping up.

Mo has been the only consistent week to week player. He and Church, their absence was felt today. Too many wide open receivers IMO.

We still lack a pass rush from the DEs. What has DLaw done.
I beg to differ. Lee has been outstanding every week

Other than Tom, he's my favorite Collins.

I like Phil.

D is not there yet. But our O really protects it. Browns had 28 yards in the 2nd half. How can I complain?

But honestly, I hate the prevent D right before the half that led to the Browns' only TD. That was a drive that killed Rex Ryan's career here.

I heard Phil is coming out of retirement for a new tour. Sorry, back to the Cowboys.

I'm pretty sure Jason was thinking that we would stop them on defense, and that we would score another touchdown before time ran out..But i'm sure if he could do it all over again, he would have used up more of the clock.

Garret really needs to work on his hindsight a little more.

Those of us with all 22 access saw what time it was with him. Film doesn't lie. He stays healthy we're good at 3tech for years.

To make us a legit defense?

We need a stud rushing end. I like Lawrence but he's not that guy. The rest of the DEs we have range from decent to JAGs. It's still laughable that the front office thought this collection of DEs would solve our pass rushing issues. We need a better SS (despite Church playing better this year). Another CB and a MLB.

Maybe we get lucky and Smith is healthy and takes care of LB. Then if we get lucky with Tapper and Gregory, suddenly things are falling into place.
