Maybe the term "close" is too subjective for some.

Let's just say they're a top 10 D. Also, 4th in points allowed. What are they on the Aikman scale?
To discount this rating because of how great the offense is is silly imo. You could go through any team ranking and note the disqualifiers that could diminish their ranking. You are what the stats say you are. We are a Top 10 D today.

Hard to argue that a pass rusher couldn't possibly make us very good or past "close".

it's awesome to see him really come into his own. I really didn't expect him to be this good when we drafted him. It feels like we are starting to build a special defense. I hope we put our high picks on that side of the ball next year. We could be dominate if we do that.

Not including the 2 sacks. With 6 mins left in the 1 quarter, Collins really disrupted that offense line on that drive, he even forced a holding call on a run because he collapsed the pocket, than the following play he got in Kessler's face, his first step is impressive

 

[Verdict]

The defense seems to be pretty solid against the run. Teams aren't gashing us with the run like they have in years past. The CBs are playing very sound football and forcing teams to make plays consistently to beat us. That is hard to do on a consistent basis
