How can anyone defend these coaches?

In your own eyes perhaps.

For me, each attempted excuse forthis carousel of mediocrity damages it a bit more. But to then attack others who see it for the 8-8 that if is drops it considerably. If you want to cover your eyes and ears, that's one thing, but don't attack others for not cheering for this ineptitude.

You speak of what has remained wrong under Garrett and then attack the credibility of those who've had enough of it?

This is just so off, it's hard to reply to. Just because I disagree strongly with your assessment of what is wrong with the team, it doesn't follow that I don't think there is anything wrong with the team. My criticisms are out there, and they're clear, so they aren't excuses.

I'm not criticizing anybody for seeing a 500 football team. That's pretty obviously what we've been. I'm criticizing people for seeing that level of football and drawing the completely wrong conclusions about what the problems have been. And then I often criticize those same people for their embarrassing displays of disappointment when their teams ends up to, in fact, be playing 500-level football. 500-level football is what you get when half the teams you play are good, and you can't stop the pass, take the ball away, or both. This is pretty much borne-out across the league, and it's been the case for a long time, now.

This. This offense has a 100 million dollar QB, a future Hall of Fame TE, a top 5 WR, and arguably the best OL they've had in the last 15 years or so. And they still don't look like they know what they're doing. The offense has by and large put up pretty good numbers but they just don't seem to be able to score consistently in situations that warrant it.

our inability to score off of turnovers is ABSOLUTELY MINDBOGGLING

This was the least pleasing win I have ever seen. This team is trash and was trying to find ways to lose the game.

I have a "every win is a good win" policy.... but we played like trash today. absolute trash. If they started Brett Favre at QB they probably would have won.

'Wrong' according to you maybe.

The same guy taking up for this .500 team.

For you, I guess .500 is OK, for many of us, it's not.

I wouldn't consider Rod Marinelli, Bill Parcells, Rob Ryan (on defense) or even Sean Payton as crap coaches. Dallas has brought in legit coaches but end results have not changed. The focus should remain on players.

Payton was on a leash when he was here.

The focus needs to always be on players. That's a given. But you are selling the importance of coaching short if you think we're getting any kinds of advantages with this staff.

Minnesota straight up out coached us today but they don't have the horses to keep up like we do.

We made Ponder look like Favre and we made their secondary look like it was actually legit.

I actually think the rest of you have no point. So if I have made the point that you have no point I'm happy to make my point. Only in Dallas do we complain

a. After a win
b. After staying in 1st place.

But if you desire to remain miserable, be my guest.

just a question... if we lose against a superior opponent next week... and the Commanders win this thursday and next sunday... will you then complain??

I ask because it seems like your only reason for maintaining blue goggles is a win, and first place... regardless of how badly we play, and how bad our division opponents are, which will eventually correct itself to the mean btw.

Good teams find a way to beat the bad ones. That's how we tell them apart. No, this win was not a thing of beauty, but this is the NFL. You take wins any way you can get them. And believe me, the talent level on the Vikings is not 1-7.

good teams beat the bad ones??

Well what does that make us since we're always beat by the >.500 "good teams"??

You said coaching was not the issue with this team. Unless Im missing something here there are numerous posts in this thread stating that you are wrong. Your credibility has been questioned in some of those posts.

In reply to my post you said yes you were referring to the defense about coaching not being the issue. Anybody that uses their brain even slightly would know that we have a defense decimated by injuries and the coaches cannot be blamed. Hence my post about your credibility being questioned. In other words, I agree with you. I think you are correct. Anyone paying attention would agree with you. So, I wondered why your cred would be questioned about something so obvious.

Glad we won. But I'm also glad I missed this game. We've all seen many of these performances in recent years. We manage to squeak away with a win when it shouldn't have even been an issue.

What happened to the offense we saw vs. Denver? That's all I want to know.

This is what the offense has been every game this season with exception of the Denver game, so it's pretty much what I've come to expect.

This is just a deeply, deeply flawed football team.

Ah. Gotcha. In that case, I agree, too. :)

Running the ball only 8 times against a bad Minnesota defense is horrible coaching. Murray was running well and for some reason our inept coaching staff failed to realize it. I get tired of Garrett continually saying we have to run the ball more, only to ignore it after the kickoff every week. He's an idiot.

Preach. He's a hypocritical idiot with no passion and Jerry's yes man to boot.
