How can Seattle rebuild twice in ten years but not Dallas?

The Cowboys kinda remind me of the Yankees. For one, they both have/had egotistical owners. I think Steinbrenner and Jones are too proud to rebuild because they don't want to accept being one of the bottom-feeders of the league. It takes a certain amount of humility as an owner to accept going into full rebuild mode. Look at the Yankees: they trade away their young prospects for overpaid veterans, and they throw big money at guys in their 30s. They're always trying to put band-aids on all their problems. Reminds me of a ship with holes in the bottom. They keep trying to plug each hole, and when they do another hole pops up. Rather than just let the boat sink and build a new one from scratch, they keep trying to revive this old dying ship.

Two words: Holmgren, Carroll.
Of course it all falls on jerry for his hires but he was on the right track with Parcells.

It's just mind boggling to me to think Romo's first playoff game was against that old group of Seahawks and they have totally rebuilt that Seattle team and Romo, Witten and Ware can say they only won one playoff game since then.

Im quoting and bolding this for emphasis. Its pathetic what this team has done when you show it in this light.

Funny I don't see the Seahawks front office commenting on the fact that they "didn't expect this much parity....it's harder to win...it's a balanced league."

Maybe the Seahawks just found the "secret sauce."

As many have said it is all about drafting good players in which the Seahawks did. They hit on Wilson, Sherman, Chancellor, among others. On the flip side the Cowboy players get hit and pull a hammy and are out for several games.

The thing is we haven't been rebuilding, we have panicked to patch holes and had some drafts that players didn't turn out. Injuries hurt as well.

To rebuild means to pay older guys unless for vet. min. Draft well and have a young group grow together.

The OL is almost rebuilt, but we have so many other holes as well, DL number 1 needs talent. LB cant stay healthy and same goes for DB. Offense for most part is good enough to win we need to draft and get players almost solely on defense. Put a defense that can get stops PLUS turnovers and we win 4 to 5 more games this season. Saints and Bears only team we couldn't hang with mean while Denver, KC, GB, SD, Detriot would all be wins if we had a better defense.

Secondary would be better if front 7 caused havoc on opposing QBs, you wouldn't have back ups throwing 400 yards because they are on their back or throwing out of bounds. You win in the trenches, IF YOU BUILD THEM THEY WILL COME(Rings and wins)

Certainly any rebuild is going to have to start with the defensive line.

The trouble is how is the team going to deal with Ware and Hatcher?

My feeling is that this defense qualifies as one of the worst of all-time with them on the roster... Then they can qualify as one of the worst of all-time without them on the roster.

Let Hatcher walk.

Cut Ware unless he accepts one big-time pay cut.

Come next May, concentrate on DL with some consideration to safety and picking up another guard.

On offense Austin is history.

They just have a better model, and better people making the decisions. Carroll is the HC, but he's also the Exec VP of whatever, which makes him John Schneiders (GM) boss. That means he gets to pick the groceries, and he's very good at it. I don't know if we have anybody who's as good a talent evaluator. Plus, Jerry gets too personal, and doesn't stay as professional as he needs to. Therefore, we get older players getting big contracts that they don't live up to, leading to a lot of dead money. It also means a lack of accountability. Add to that, the fact that he's got his hands in everything, it makes it harder for others do their jobs, because he's not letting the, do their jobs.

I despise Coach Jones. I'm serious too. I hate the man. Whenever I see his gray, wrinkled face...Ugh.
I cant say what I want to say as I do not want to have insufficient posting privileges again. I am practicing restraint.

If the Seahawks could stop having one of their players suspended every other week they'd easily be the best team in the NFL for a few.

Hate that team though.

The Seahawks had poor teams in 2008, 2009 and 2010. By jettisoning. A lot of the dead wood then has allowed them to accumulate a lot of young talent. It also helps to find a franchise Qb in the 3rd round.

i would not say Russell is a franchise QB but he is good and best of all for them he is extremely cheap because of the new rookie contract rules which helps them pay for other positions.

I love when people cherry pick teams.

What about the Browns? Lions? Bills? Dolphins? *insert fanbase that has experienced a long "rebuild"*

already tried my friend.
Cant get over the bitter hatred I have for Coach Jones.
I will keep trying to step back and re-evaluate things in hopes of gaining proper perspective....but no guarantees can be made. I will report back on any success I have as it relates to this matter.
