How can Seattle rebuild twice in ten years but not Dallas?

i would not say Russell is a franchise QB but he is good and best of all for them he is extremely cheap because of the new rookie contract rules which helps them pay for other positions.

Russell Wilson is looking every bit the part of a franchise QB.

I love when people cherry pick teams.

What about the Browns? Lions? Bills? Dolphins? *insert fanbase that has experienced a long "rebuild"*

What about them?

And don't look now but the Dolphins might just win 10 games this year.

I was gonna say the same thing, but its late and I didnt feel like getting into a big debate with people. The guy puts up very good numbers and his leadership qualities are tremendous. I dont like the Seahawks, but they have a winner at QB.

He produces, and generally takes care of the ball even if he has a few more fumbles this year than you'd like. QBR over 100 for his career so far. 31 total TDs last year, 25 this year. Doesn't have a dominant WR to throw to but very good at spreading it around.

I honestly haven't seen much that I don't like about the guy. Looks like an absolute grand slam of a pick by the Seahawks.

I also heard Aikman on radio talking about him. He said that the first time he sat down to talk with this guy, he was as impressed with him as he has been with any young player he has ever talked to.

I found your lack of faith in the secret sauce disturbing...

Just think how Seattle went from the Mike Holmgren, Matt Hasselbeck , Shaun Alexander ,Walter Jones and Marcus Trufant group from like 2002 to about 2008 or so of good playoff football. They even went to a Superbowl and a NFC Championship game during that stretch. Now they have a totally different group of players and Coaches. Pete Carroll, Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman ,Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor. Once again they're at the top of the NFC and arguably the best team in Football.

Someone please tell me How Seattle can regroup so fast but the Cowboys can't take the next step and have some playoff success? Is it just the NFC East has been tougher? Or we just haven't had the personnel to get over the hump?

I'm trying to like Russell Wilson. But after the Fail Mary last year against the packers he was interviewed on field and was like "yeah, it was totally a touchdown, no doubt". With a cocky smirk on his face.

Kinda rubbed me wrong.

Bad decisions cause this team to falter. The worst that Jerry did was hire Garrett who is nothing more than a "YES" man.

Jones needs someone that can challenge in and not afraid to make decisions contrary to what Jerry wants. Parcells was that type of coach. Like it or not, Parcells was the best hire that we had here since Jimmy left. All other coaches just flat out suck including Garrett.

Might be trite, but it doesn't matter if we have an all pro Bowl team. We need to find a way (which I have no clue) to keep our players healthy. EVERY year one or more of our better players misses multiple games with injury, seemingly at the worst possible time. then of course the same answer everyone believes, Its Jerry's fault.

It's called holding on and over paying... Then restructuring players who have not won a single thing... This team should of been blown up 3 years ago...

I have told you guys why this is. When the person doing the selecting is not very good....when he finally gets a decent player he holds onto them for dear life because he has ZERO confidence he will find another one. I have also said Jerry will never move on from DeMarcus Ware because that is his crowning achievement....that is his "see, I told you I know what I am doing". Because remember, Pacells wanted Merriman...but Jerry overuled and took Ware. So in Jerry's mind, that convinced him he is good at this "drafting thing". Little does Jerry understand the following: It is NOT about proving people wrong....its about having a idenity and consistently drafting towards that idenity. Sometimes you hit a "short" rough patch (see Pittsburgh)....but you will have you fair amount of success when you have an identity that has proven to be successful more often than not. Jerry is like a dog chasing his tail. Grab a guy here, grab a guy there....add this coach.....match him with that coach. This is a very sick man. It is not even funny anymore....it is reality.

And lets not forget Seattle has made some AWFUL moves and survived....a 1st rounder for Deion Branch...coughing up big money for Sidney Rice....losing one of there big physical CBs...losing guys to suspension for PED use....several picks for Percy Harvin with ZERO in return. Moves like that (joey galloway trade, roy williams trade) have crippled this franchise set us back for years..and management uses them as a crutch when we are struggling. Why is is that Seattle can brush bad moves (everyone is going to have them) off and continue to thrive? They have an identity....they have become the Ravens of the NFC. Nasty, physical...brash, confident....and commitment to winning.

It is sad where Dallas is. Sad. Especially when as fans we know there is no end in sight. This is how bad it has gotten. On 2 separate occasions this year Jerry has admitted what I have known all along. Jerry wants to be acknowledged as a "football guy" He knows the first 3 Super Bowls he was acknowledged as the guy who wrote the checks (why is that not enough, I mean he is the owner!) But with Jimmy out the way, he can go through his list of "500 coaches" that could coach the Cowboys. It is sad that neither him nor anyone in the organization (as an aside, this is why his son will not be any better) can get him to see that if he is lucky enough win to win again, it would be considered dumb luck....not his football acumen

He also knows that win or lose...the entertainment value is very high....so he will get paid no matter the outcome. It is one thing to think this....it is another thing to basically announce this to the fans. These type of things are sobering for me as a fan. His inhibitions have decreased so much that he is just coming right out and confirming all the flaws he has as a man that are the SOURCE of why this football operation is what it is. He CRAVES validation as a football man...and criticism about his poor track record energizes him to be more determined than ever to "show" his critics he IS a "football man"

I wouldn't call what we're doing rebuilding, and if we are, we're doing a very poor job of it. Seattle has kept virtually none of the guys from the Hasslebeck, Alexander, Kearney and Trufant days. The core is top to bottom, different. We, on the other hand, have kept Ware, Witten Romo, Hatcher, Ratliff (up until this year) Spencer etc.

And time has proven that to be a mistake. Hanging on to a few overpayed players and putting scrubs around them is not going to win anything.

Seattle - Young cheap talent by drafting and undrafted FA along with player development.

The problem in Dallas in terms of roster composition is simple. Too much $ paid to a few players and not getting bang for buck.

The NFC West was really bad for a long time. I'm not saying we run our team more efficiently than San Fran or Seattle just pointing out that that plays a part as well.

I don't know why that is, however I do know it has nothing to do with talent evaluation/acquisition or coaching

Most likely it is just bad luck, the up and down NFL, the referees being against us or the big bad media

No doubt that one big issue is in knowing when to let go.

The Cowboys always seem to wait too long to make changes.

All too often reactive and not proactive.

We will be faced with the same dilemma this year with Ware. The future is now

We haven't been rebuilding. You don't blow 50 million and 1st and 2nd round draft picks on a couple of cornerbacks if you're in a rebuild. You do it if you have a delusional GM who doesn't know what a winning football team looks like and thinks he's a player or two away from something.
