How can Seattle rebuild twice in ten years but not Dallas?

Bad decisions cause this team to falter. The worst that Jerry did was hire Garrett who is nothing more than a "YES" man.

Jones needs someone that can challenge in and not afraid to make decisions contrary to what Jerry wants. Parcells was that type of coach. Like it or not, Parcells was the best hire that we had here since Jimmy left. All other coaches just flat out suck including Garrett.

Yes, Jerry Jones will definitely hire a HC who will challenge him.

Roll eyes.

I love when people cherry pick teams.

What about the Browns? Lions? Bills? Dolphins? *insert fanbase that has experienced a long "rebuild"*

I love it when some fans have to mentioned the Browns, Bills, Dolphins and Lions to show that we're not as bad as the dredges of the NFL. There used to be a time when we'd be compared to the Steelers, 49ers, Lakers and Yankees. There was a time when the real SB was the NFC Championship game and the Cowboys were in it. My how the mighty have fallen, along with fan standards.

The Lions have one playoff win in over 50 years. The Browns and Bills are two of the worst managed teams in the NFL over the past decade or so. If you have to compare the Cowboys to those, we got problems.

It's called holding on and over paying... Then restructuring players who have not won a single thing... This team should of been blown up 3 years ago...

Amen to that. Jerry lies to himself about the veterans on the team and thinks they are way better than they actually are.ALL of them are WAY past their prime. Then way over pays them. Trades away draft picks to move up in the draft and doesn't know squat about the player, just asks his college coach(Claiborne). Now we have a sissy that can't tackle and stays hurt, the Cowboys culture got to him already. We just keep kicking the can down the road instead of taking it on the chin and having a few rough years to rebuild, which is fitting considering we are Americas's team. The US is doing the same thing.

Just think how Seattle went from the Mike Holmgren, Matt Hasselbeck , Shaun Alexander ,Walter Jones and Marcus Trufant group from like 2002 to about 2008 or so of good playoff football. They even went to a Superbowl and a NFC Championship game during that stretch. Now they have a totally different group of players and Coaches. Pete Carroll, Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman ,Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor. Once again they're at the top of the NFC and arguably the best team in Football.

Someone please tell me How Seattle can regroup so fast but the Cowboys can't take the next step and have some playoff success? Is it just the NFC East has been tougher? Or we just haven't had the personnel to get over the hump?

This is easy. They're willing to let go of players, coaches, and GM's.

I think the Browns are on the right track. They have a bunch of good picks in this next draft and are setup to take big leaps forward. Next season they should be pretty good. I like what the new GM is doing....Must be nice having a real GM.

You have to crash to rebuild. We fans won't accept rebuilding years and Jerry doesn't have the guts to say that is what we are doing so we keep patching the wall vs a remodel. We have to accept a few bad years with a solid head coach who will build for the long term. Build an identity. The last time we did that was when Jimmy got here and Jerry didn't have his pride at stake. Even when BP came here it wasn't called rebuilding but he did a pretty good job without really blowing it up.

Because Jerry loves to hang onto old players and give out contract extensions to guys in their 30s. See Ware, Witten, Scandrick and some others. That's not a winning recipe in this league. Ware should not be on this team right now. It's debatable if Witten should be either. Jerry has a hard time moving on from these older players so we get stuck with guys who can't perform like they used to yet are getting paid like they should. And hence why we are in salary cap hell.
